no one loves the light like the blind man etc etc
an extremely quick scribble for @barricadeday
Epilogue
Happy Barricade Day! After all, June 6th is the day they made their sacrifice, so Iβm not late, right?
The inspiration for this drawing came from the Toledo Cathedralβthe sense of the heavens opening up, which also corresponds to the final song of Les MisΓ©rables, "Epilogue."
In the painting, I wanted to depict the scene Jean Valjean vaguely sees as he passes away. Fantine takes his hand, leading him toward heaven, while the Bishop stands beside him, illuminating the path behind. And in the background are those who fell during the battle.
The upward composition gives the feeling that their voices fade into the "valley of the light," reflecting their destiny of "climbing to the light." I wanted the darker surroundings to contrast with the light of heaven, showing that they now dwell in that place beyondβechoing the lyric, "We will live again in freedom in the garden of the Lord."
Jehan loves playing the flute, so perhaps the "distant drums" are sounds he conjures.
Behind Valjean, there is a mural of womenβintended to represent the "lovely ladies," along with little Gavroche and his sister Γponine above. These figures embody the suffering people of the earth, much like the lyrics of "Wretched of the Earth."
On the heavenly side of the mural are two elderly men: the Parliament G and Mabeuf. Finally, the little angels surrounding the Bishop are Gavrocheβs younger brothers.

I have a feeling that the Amis were too young to actually consider death beforehand.
How painful it must have been to be so hopeful that France would stand up and fight with them, only to be faced with abandonment, the prospect of defeat and likely death.
Most of them, with the exception of Grantaire, were so committed to the idea of ββa French Republic that they refrained from considering the physical damage that would be inflicted on them in combat.
It is quite distressing for the public when the prospect finally comes to them that they are going die. But in the end, they know that this is what they signed up for, win or die trying.
I think that's why Grantaire's death is so different from others, he didn't die for the idea, for the plan, he allowed himself to die alongside the only people he cared about, they were worth living and dying for.
The others hadn't considered the prospect of dying beforehand, but Grantaire knew of that possibility, he didn't believe in the cause too, and yet he stayed with them for as long as he could.
The legacy of Enjolras' death, and that of the other Amis, is that, "if you are really willing to fight for something, you have to be prepared to bleed" (and perhaps hope that at least your idea will live when you won't, when you die). But Grantaire's legacy is more like "if you love, you have to be willing to bleed" (and maybe that person will realize how you willing to be there for them).
It's about loving, fighting and sacrificing yourself, even if it makes you a misΓ©rable. Like everything else in the book.

Sitting and resting sprite animation (-.-)
I was really looking forward to doing this one ^-^
I'm starting to realize I am probably doing these too complicated (too many frames), maybe I should try to make them simpler in the future, idk
Next thing I'll do is trying to implement the last two sprites I made into my unity project, let's see if I can ^-^'
Otherwise, I'll begin doing the next sprite animation: run
Until next time!
