Jack Sparrow, playing the role of:

Remember Dead Man’s Chest? That was a good movie. There was a kraken, remember the kraken? Jack got eaten by it. And died tragically. Fun times all around. But there’s this one scene, right? Where Jack and Will go to Tia Dalma’s so that they can ask the whereabouts of the key to Jones’s chest, because Jack’s compass is being finicky? And in that scene, Jack is touching all of Tia Dalma’s things, because Jack is a pirate and Jack is a thief and Jack is a kleptomaniac. And in that scene, Jack steals a ring. We remember this, yes? Here are some screenshots, in case you forgot:

(There’s another meta in here somewhere about how much Jack Sparrow loves jewelry, and another meta all together about Jack picking up and holding Hector’s hat, but let’s stay focused here, guys.) 

So Jack sees this ring, and he takes it, and Tia Dalma is (probably???) none the wiser. So let’s skip forward a few years, onto On Stranger Tides. There are mermaids. There’s talk about the Fountain of Youth. And there’s Angelica, whom Jack kind of has a thing for but doesn’t want to admit. Feelings, and all that, you know? 0/10, Jack definitely would not recommend. Jack and Angelica dance. And here, from the original script: 

Because Tia Dalma never does anything for free, Angelica traded her ring in order to get information about the Fountain of Youth. And that ring must have had a lot of sentimental value, if Calypso considered it payment enough to trade for information about immortality. Then, who knows how long after, Jack Sparrow comes along, sees it, realizes it belongs to Angelica, and steals it. Then, a few years later, Jack meets up with her and, does not keep her ring. He gives it back to her. This is so important, you guys, because Jack Sparrow is a selfish, horrible man. There are three things that Jack Sparrow loves and they are: himself, his ship and the sea. His actions are only done in the benefit of himself, or if you want to stretch things, his crew and his ship. So the fact that he would willingly give up something he stole, something he considers his, is worthy of so much more than a simple gifset and caption. Let’s contrast this, yeah? Remember that very same scene in Dead Man’s Chest, where Tia Dalma gives Jack a jar of dirt? And this exchange happened: JACK: Dirt. This is a jar of dirt.  TIA DALMA: Yes. JACK: Is the... jar of dirt going to help? TIA DALMA: If you don't want it, give it back. JACK: No! 

Hi, I'm Silas, I rp Jack Sparrow, it's nice to meet you / see y'all again. I haven't touched this account in like, 8 months because Everything Has Been So Much. The difference is, Everything Is Still So Much, except now I have an few extra few hours in the day. So hi, nice to meet you, I'm back, here to play some dumb gross pirate I guess?????

But here's the thing.

I'm in my last semester of college. I'm taking 15 hours of advanced math theory classes. I will graduate this semester. Everything Is Still So Much. I won't be around at all hours of the day. Don't expect me to be around all hours of the day. You'll be disappointed. But what I can promise is this:

I will, generally, be around. I'll do my best to throw out one or two replies a day. I have a lot of Jack Sparrow feelings and I've missed my boy so I'm going to do the best I can to make this work. But if I'm not around for a day or two, it's not because I don't wanna play with you guys. It's because math theory fucking sucks and sometimes it eats my soul and then I have to go through a tedious Narnia-type adventure in order to get it back.

It's not as fun as it sounds.

So here's what we're gonna do, tumblr. Today and tomorrow I'm gonna do some early-spring cleaning around my account, spruce up my rules, fix all the pictures that photobucket ate, dust off my drafts and ask. Tomorrow as well, I'll think about maybe doing a starter post if people are interested in that.
