Such is the infancy of a broken beast

Rearing : Her mother was a disgraced nun, father unknown, she was later taken as the ward of a Count. Eventually being brought to serve the King, specifically one of his daughters.

Relation with the Princess : knighthood under the Princess is at times tedious, her loyalty remains painfully unwavering, surpassing that towards the King. Her mistress exhibits the occasional bout of jealousy and violence, explained by her childhood ailments. Aside from such passions she remains impartial, such swings of behavior often lead to miscalculations on the knight’s part. The Princess has been involved in dark magick, speculated to be caused by an inferiority complex.

She had always been quiet in the way ghosts are, a learned stealth, ingrained into most of her mannerisms. Still she hovered in some dark corner, fully armored save her helm, like a wraith, watching with her hollow eyes. Perhaps she’d been waiting for him to get accustomed to her presence, perhaps she didn’t know what to say.

Perla clutched prayer beads, she didn’t pray aloud but she had been making progress on them, her lips twitching at times when she got to a certain part. She watched him the entire time, observing the damage, searching for some invisible answer to some unasked question.

“I’ve venison, if you’d like” she said finally.

He stares back at her, face bared instead of masked, but still equally as obscured. The silence of not denying, but not wanting to speak of it again. He looked at the prayer beads on her hand, the flick between the fingers to move on between litanies. He wishes he had his own still on hand. They had disappeared mysteriously after the joust- a bad sign he should've listened to. He liked the way her pale armor glowed with the tiny light of the cell's window, though. Something about purity. He looks down. He nods. But he cannot say it out loud; to want anything is still as degrading as confessing to everything else. "Thank you, Perla."
