              It wasn’t one of Mai’s rare cards. However it was one of her most important cards. She wouldn’t have been sure if it was replaceable here. So she was thankful that someone alerted it to her attention. She would have been devastated. Not that this showed in her face. With a prideful smirk she took the card back. “Thanks hun. Its Elegant Egotist, It’s a Duel Monster’s card. In my world it’s a card linked to my very lively hood. Not to mention her actual life, that wasn’t something to bring up at the moment. “I’m Mai Valentine. Nice to meet you.” With that she gave him her signature wink.

Seems this woman has a thing against….well resisting, God? Gods? Wolfwood hums in question, sparing a questioning glance at her. He shoots her a smile in return. 

              Mai tapped at the table. “Fill me up.” Once she received another glass she chugged it promply. Well if she were going to explain her bullshit life to a holy man, she wasn’t to be drunk. So with a deep inhale and exhale she began her tale. “Well because of an Egyptian God I literally had my mind locked into a prison. My body became a lifeless shell. Oh and then later my soul was taken to awaken a giant dragon god. Yeah, fun times. My…well friends always tell me to believe in the heart of the cards. That good things are bound to happen. Miracles exist in my world, but they don’t have time for me.”

“I have the feeling you are the creative type. I’m sure you can come up with something I’ve never heard before. Words that would actually thrill and surprise me. Words that will make me shudder in anticipation. I got to warn you though. A fella has never made me squirm before. So consider that a challenge handsome.”

[ ◈ ] She may be very manipulative but that wasn’t going without saying that Junpei was used to these types of woman to a degree. He dealt with Mitsuru and Yukari for crying out loud — that was like double the treatment in a way on a level. But he wasn’t trained in handling them as well. He was the brutal strength. 

Mai wasn’t that good at offering advice. Not because her advice wasn’t valid. Instead it was because offering help could lead to making connections with someone. If she made a connection with someone, she could get hurt. So it often came out abrupt and somewhat condescending.

“Well, well, well. I must say you aren’t the first man to tell me they are thrilled by what drips on…Oh I misspoke. I meant from my lips. That it made them feel hot and excited. The real question is, could you return the favor? Make me feel that way? It would be perfect holiday for people like us hun, people who aren’t easily embarrassed.”

Black boots kicked against the ground as a white haired girl groaned in dissatisfaction. Lips pursed and eyes scrunched up, Makie was obviously stuck on something. She stared at the two decks sitting on the table, her arms crossed her chin resting on them.

              The blonde’s keen ears perked at the mention of ‘duel.’ Where’d that come from? Her purple eyes scanned the area around her. Then she saw a little girl dressed like a doll, with two decks of her own. She looked confused and Mai was never the best with helping people. Not outright anyway. So she got up, walked towards the girl, and put her hand on her hip. “You won’t get anywhere in Duel Monsters if you doubt yourself kid. It isn’t a game for the weak hearted.”

“Well call me contrary, but it makes me want to do everything but kiss....I wonder if they have a holiday for that. Maybe that is one I could get behind.”

“I was at the dive bar across the way. Dueling chumps out of their booze money. I hear a racket on my way home, and look who I find. Is this what you do with your free time when I’m gone Wheeler?” Mai flipped her long blonde hair and laughed her haughty laugh, “Kind of disappointed…”
