Hi there! 21+ looking for a writing partner who is 21+ as well. All muses used should also be 21+ and use 21+ realistic FCs. I prefer semi-lit/novella and this plot contains taboo/dead dove themes. This is a long plot premise but there’s a lot we can do with it and tweak!
I recently read the book Julie Chan Is Dead and it got me wanting an extremely similar plot (we can even add what happens in the second half of the book if you’ve read it and know what I’m talking about!) or if you’ve not read it, think of the film Ingrid Goes West.
Muse A has spent most of her life watching her identical twin from afar. After their parents died in a car wreck when they were five, the sisters were separated — one was sent to live with a wealthy family in New York City, the other raised by an aunt in the Midwest.
While Muse A bounced between retail jobs and grocery stores, her sister built a glamorous life as a successful influencer, amassing millions of followers, brand deals, and a luxury penthouse. The only time they ever reconnected was for a staged YouTube video her sister wanted to film years ago. After that, it was radio silence.
Then, out of nowhere, Muse A gets a late night phone call from her twin. She sounds terrified, struggling to breathe as she whispers that “it was a mistake” before the line cuts out. Days pass with no answers and no returned calls
Desperate to know what exactly happened, Muse A flies to New York and lets herself into her sister’s penthouse with surprising ease - only to find her twin dead on the kitchen floor. Panicked, she calls the police, but when they arrive, they mistake Muse A for her sister after finding the influencer’s ID in the purse she had left on the counter.
Standing in the middle of her twin’s lavish apartment, surrounded by the life she always envied, Muse A makes a split-second decision: instead of correcting them, she lets her old identity die and steps into her sister’s life instead.
This is where the fun comes in.
Everyone who was in her twin sister’s life has no idea muse A is a fraud but she tries her best to keep up the facade. Muse B could be a sneaky link, an ex, a close friend, a fellow influencer, a rivalry. Or even a friend of Muse A who is in on it and knows what’s happening.
Not only that, but it seemed like her sister was hiding some sinister secrets herself.
There is a ton we can do with this and brainstorm off of. Just let me know! I think it could be a lot of fun.
This could be fxm, fxf, and a mumu. This is basically like a dead dove/celebrity/influencer plot!
