Tried つけ麺 (Tsukemen) for the very first time today. I certainly enjoyed it given that it’s essentially ramen sans an important step in the preparation stage. If someone could explain to me the historical reason for this epic divide, I would love you forever. Please?

Previously, if I had to recommend an episode, to someone new to Doctor Who, it was Blink. Now, that honor may go to Heaven Sent. 

I’m not a philosophy major, but even I can see why employers love critical thinkers.™

A sign of hope? Gotta start somewhere. 

All of these novel descriptions sound boss; only thing left for me to do is pay up and read.

That feeling when you finish an article 3 minutes before deadline.

But actually, no.

Worked a 9-5 yesterday for job training, and this morning I immediately remembered why I decided some time ago to never do that again. 

It took me a while, but I finally did it. I read and marginally understood the events that went on in The Sound and the Fury. Perhaps more than marginal, I had some time to do some clever thinking, and I believe there is a lot to be said about Faulkner’s novel, even if technically it is a novel simply of events and minor conflicts. An immediate favorite once I figured out that the novel dealt with psychosis and time, two of my favorite subjects. The Compson family was especially compelling. Assholes, kind of, (or especially for one), they got me thinking of another literary family I know and love, Salinger’s Glass family. Quentin especially seemed a proto-Seymour Glass, that wonder child and suicidal (both being successfully so) oaf. There is a lot I love about this novel, so I’ll be putting some distance between us for now, before returning to it again when my brain comes intact. 

An ample summary. If only reading the book were as easy as watching this video. 

I enjoyed this film a lot. Except the ending. That quick and abrupt ending. 

No. The quiz is part of the story. That’s what makes it work. 

I sneezed and I finished The Alchemist. It was short, it was good, it was uplifting. Kind of like Siddhartha in spirit, except somehow preachier because it wouldn’t stop nagging me about its point(s). If the book had been  written by an American, it would have somehow turned into a Republican talking point: Power to the individual! Fuck the hopeless masses! etc. I can see why people like this book. How many of us harbor these ideas? To a less psychopathic degree of course.
