You were having yourself a relaxing afternoon after a busy day at work. Hopefully when Niall got home you guys could watch Game of Thrones or Stranger Things together. Nothing at the moment felt more appealing than cuddling up on the bed with your boyfriend after a long day with Netflix and a bowl of popcorn. This would be one of the first afternoons you’d finally have Niall to yourself. He’s been overworking himself at the studio lately with a new album coming in the following months. As understanding as you are with his busy schedule, you can’t help but miss him a little. “Babe? You home?” Your ears perked up at his voice from downstairs and you put down the book you were reading. “Upstairs!” Shortly you hear his footsteps padding up the stairs and soon see your handsome boyfriend appear in your shared bedroom. You furrow your eyebrows slightly. Something about him didn’t look right. He always looked tired after long hours recording and writing new tracks for the upcoming album, but today was different. “Hey babe, how was the studio?” He came over to collapse next to you on the bed. Upon closer speculation you noticed why his appearance looked strange. “Are you okay? You look…ill.” His cheeks were unusually rosy while the rest of his face was eerily pale. His hand took yours and you noticed how clammy it was. “I’m fine. Today was just a rough day recording.” He grunt and pulled you closer, wrapping an arm around your middle. “Niall,” you scolded. “You’re sick.” Running your hand through his hair, your hand slipped down to feel his forehead. He wasn’t hot, but he did feel a little warm. Niall shook his head. “Don’t be silly, it’s nothing. I just want to cuddle with my girlfriend which is something I’ve neglected to do in a while.” His lips trailed down your neck affectionately. “All I need is a good cuddle with you and I’ll be okay. It’s just a small headache I promise.” You knew better than to keep trying to argue with him. When Niall got stubborn there was hardly anything you could do to change his mind. With that you turn in his arms so your back faced his front and pulled your laptop up to put on Stranger Things. You felt Niall shifting around behind you halfway through the episode. He buried his face into the crook of your neck and let out a shaky breath. His arms wound tighter around you, trying to pull you closer. You ignored it knowing he would protest saying he’s okay and simply took his hand in yours, caressing the back of it. It wasn’t until towards the end of the episode when he was squirming again did you notice something was actually wrong. “Niall?” You sat up and turned to face him. His eyes were squeezed shut and his arms snaked away from you. Niall turned to lay on his back and his cheeks got even more flushed. You felt his forehead again; he was scorching hot. “Babe, you’re burning up.” “No,” he whined, pouting his lips childishly. “I’m not, I’m-“ Before Niall could finish his eyes snapped open as he bolted from the bed and to the bathroom. A moment later you were following after him and rubbing his back as he retched his stomach out into the toilet. “I told you so,” you teased slightly as he groaned in response. “I’ll go get you some medicine and water. I’m guessing soup is out of the question?” He groaned again at the sound of ‘soup’. A few minutes later you returned to him to see him laying face up on the bed with an arm draped over his eyes. You gave Niall the medicine and water as he sat up to take it. You fluffed up the pillows behind him to make him more comfy as he sighed. You kneeled next to him on the bed, waiting for him to finish before taking his temperature. For the rest of the night you were checking up on Niall as he took naps and threw up one more time. By the end of the night he was exhausted, but he looked considerably better than when he first returned from work. “It’s most likely a twenty-four hour bug. You should be feeling better by tomorrow. But you’re staying home tomorrow so no studio for you.” You gave him these instructions as you replaced the cold compress on his forehead. You were about to leave when his hand grabbed your wrist. “I’m sorry I ruined our night together. I really wanted to spend time with you,” Niall whispered. His eyes still looked mesmerizing even in such a disheveled state, filled with exhaustion and guilt. You smiled softly before leaning down to carefully peck his cheek. “You just focus on getting better again and then I’m all yours, baby.” Niall smiled and closed his eyes again, wondering how lucky he was to have someone as nurturing and kind in his life.
