He was always there, you know? When she needed him. When she was dying, he was there to save her, twice. First time he had saved her life because her father asked him to, and the second he failed to do so because she asked him to save someone else. He was there when she thought she has nothing to live for, proving her otherwise. When she needed to laugh, he was there, making her laugh. When she needed to cry, he was there, holding her in his arms, wiping her tears away. He was there, for every tear, every smile, every kiss, every laugh. Even when he was miles away, somehow he managed to let her know he’s still there, for her, with her. Oh, she was there for him too, at his worst, when he least deserved it. He was probably there through every chick flick, classic movie he had seen thousand of times in his life, sitting there quietly because she hasn’t seen it even once. He was there when she had to rant about a book she had read he probably knows by memory. He was there to make her tea, just the way she likes it, when she was sick, or sad, or simply wanted tea. He made them dinner when she was too lazy to get out of her sweatpants so they can go out to eat. He listened to her freak out when Caroline said a wrong thing at the wrong time. He was there to move her hair from her face as they made love. All the things that made Elena a normal teenage girl, but we did not get to see.
But even warriors lose some battles, and some men fall, and some women forget how to forgive, and heroes forget what being heroic means.
