Cyrus understood the feeling of being alone before he understood love. At 4 years old, an outburst of his pneuma endangered his parents' lives. Terrified of their child, Cyrus's parents handed him off to his grandparents to live at their farm. Not wanting to care too much for the child either, they had Cyrus stay in a separate abode a mile away from where his grandparents stayed.

His grandparents made little contact with him, only making an effort to teach him the necessary things of life like reading and writing. From there on, Cyrus was raised to be independent, helping out with the farmland and the animals when he felt like it. When he wasn't helping, he spent his time reading and studying. Cyrus found comfort in facts and logic over fairytales and fiction. This was Cyrus's life for 13 years. 13 years he spent learning about a world that he felt he would never grasp.

When he finally neared 18 years old, He told his grandparents he was going to leave elsewhere and start his life. He asked them for money for his travels, not their forgiveness. As much as they pleaded, his decision was made. He boarded a boat overseas to Balesville, a city in the North known for its cold climate and vast forests.
