I’m a guy and I work at a convenience store. The other day I was cleaning the women’s bathroom and a woman walked in while I was it. She screamed at me for being a perv. This was while I was already leaving the restroom so she could have her privacy. It scares me. If a woman cries rape or sexual assault, the man accused is already assumed that he did it. “Innocent until proven guilty” doesn’t apply to such things. Don’t get me wrong. Rape is horrible. Sexual assault and harassment is horrible. But It scares me everyday I go into my work and am expected to clean those bathrooms. I hear so many stories of a woman accusing a man of rape when it didn’t happen and getting awa with it. Where he gets punished as if he really did commit such an atrocity.  It scares me everytime I’m in a relationship. I’m scared that a woman will take it a step further and accuse me of being something I’m not. I’m scared that with just a few words and a pointing finger, my life will be over. A lot of women will probably say this doesn’t add up to the fear the feel everytime a strange man seems to be walking a bit too close behind them. Or looking a bit too intently at them. And don’t get me wrong. It pains me that women deal with that. But they are not the only ones that feel fear. That is the point I am trying to get across.
