Hi, if you're taking requests I have an Oscar piastri x reader request for you!
Angst, Oscar is our polite cat but maybe that the issue sometimes? Because I want angst 🤣 - bf is too nonchalant and takes his girlfriend for granted meanwhile the gf is kinda opposite but she keeps letting things slide until something he does pushes her over the limit, they argue, things blow over and she breaks up with him. And he suffers trying to make things right. Basically I want a yearning man. Maybe a happy ending. You decide, author.
tw : Y/n used once, angst
a/n : I don’t know if I like this very much because I can’t write angst for the life of me but I hope it SORT OF meets your expectations! I love Osc and I know (or at least I very much hope) he would never put his work before his gf… I hope you enjoy!! :)
summary : You and Oscar have been together for three years and it’s been the best three years of your life, until Oscar starts to be distant.
This was the fourth time Oscar had stood you up on a date.
That should’ve made it easier to forget it, but it didn’t because it wasn’t okay. For some reason, Oscar had let work take over his life, even though it was the first thing he had promised you he wouldn’t do when he asked you out three years ago.
You pulled out your phone to send him a text.
He responded in an instant, which shocked you. So he was able to send text messages.
‘I’m held up at work, sorry. I’ll make it up to you.’
You scoffed as you stood up from the table at the restaurant, sending a small thank you as you left. You’d heard that line too many times.
‘I’ll make it up to you.’
You knew you should probably believe him, maybe he was held up at work, but you knew he could leave if he chose to. He’d done it many times at the early stages of your relationship.
Why couldn’t he do it now?
You decided to head home to wait for Oscar.
When he opened the door, you sat up properly on the couch and turned to face him. He had his McLaren hoodie on, his perfect swoop of hair standing out compared to everything else.
“Hey,” he whispered, walking over to you. “I’m sorry I didn’t make it.” He pressed a kiss to your forehead.
In that slim moment you wanted to forgive him. A slim moment.
He frowned. “I told you, I was busy at work.”
“I know, but normally you were able to leave. Or at least call to tell me,” you shuffled on the couch to fully face him. “That’s the fourth date that you’ve planned and missed Oscar.”
He blinked for a second. “Oh.”
“Is that all you wanna say?”
He shook his head. “No, of course not. I’m sorry, I didn’t realise.”
“Oscar, I don’t get what’s happened with us. Did I say something wrong? Have I done something to upset you?”
He clearly disliked that you kept calling him Oscar. He liked being called Osc by you.
“I’ve just been busy, that’s all. It’s not you.”
You stood up, walking to stand in front of him. “Busy how? It’s the off season, Oscar. You don’t need to be at work as much as you are right now.”
“I just wanna get better that’s all.”
He laughed and shook his head. “I’m not, though. That’s why I need to fix it.”
“So your driving is more important than me?”
He went to respond but hesitated.
You scoffed, your turn to laugh now. If you didn’t laugh, you knew the tears would come. “That’s nice, Oscar. Really nice.”
You took a deep breath. “I think I’m done. You care more about your job than you do me and that’s fine. I’m not gonna stop you anymore.”
He shook his head. “What? No, Y/n. I didn’t mean that, I just didn’t wanna mess this up.”
“You already did, Oscar!” Your voice cracked gently as you yelled. “I’ve tried to let this brush over. Say it’s okay because I love you. But it’s not anymore.”
He shook his head once more. “Don’t say that,” he whispered. “I’ll fix this, I promise.”
You turned around and walked towards the door. “I’m done, Osc.”
Your hand was on the knob just as he raced towards you. You didn’t process what he said, just opened the door and walked out.
When you got in your car, that’s when the tears fell. You didn’t want to break up with him. No matter what happened, you loved Oscar. You just didn’t love this Oscar.
When you arrived at your friend’s house you already had ten missed calls from Oscar and over forty texts.
‘Please come back, I need to fix this.’
‘I don’t know what’s wrong with me. I don’t want to lose you.’
You threw your phone onto the couch, following right after it. A deep sigh escaped your lips.
Why did you already miss him?
You must’ve fallen asleep because it was only when your phone vibrated from under your body that your eyes adjusted to the bright light.
You groaned, rolling over and finding your phone.
‘Can you come back and let me apologise, please? I want to fix this, please.’
Another groan escaped your lips. You wanted so bad to just ignore him and never go back. You loved Oscar, of course you did, but you meant it when you said you were done.
But on the other hand, you missed him, even if it had only been a few hours.
You sighed before ringing his number. It only rung once before he picked up.
“Hi,” you whispered back.
It was silent before he spoke again.
“Can I speak and say everything I want to get out before you say anything, please? I don’t want this to come out wrong.”
You sighed gently before answering. “Yeah.”
You could hear him take a deep breath before he continued. “I don’t know why I did what I did. I have the best person in the entire world who loves me unconditionally and I threw that away for some stupid reason.”
“Work is not more important than you,” he sighed once more. “I was an idiot to hesitate, and I know sorry won’t fix that because it’s already hurt you, but I’m still sorry.”
He stopped talking for a bit and you could hear is uneven breathing. “I don’t know how I’m gonna make this up to you, but I want to try. Because I do love you, forever and always just like I told you, and I want you to know that.”
“You’re my girl, and I can’t lose you.”
It was so quiet that you thought he had hung up for a second until you heard him let out a sigh. A frustrated sigh? A sad one? Angry?
“I don’t want to lose you, either, Osc. But I can’t have what happened to continue.”
“It won’t. That’s one thing I can promise you.”
You trusted Oscar. When he made a mistake, he learnt from it quickly. You hoped that would continue.
“Can I make you dinner? You don’t have to forgive me now, but I just want to make you something.”
“Yeah, you can make me dinner.”
