When I got back from Korea this summer, we took an adventure that started in Georgetown and ended down the DC National Mall. These are just a few from the first half. If you haven’t tried the lobster rolls from “Luke’s Lobster,” you should plan to take a trip down there ASAP.
In June, my little brother turned another year older, and looking back at these photos from Korea makes me very homesick. My favorites of this batch have to be of my parents lighting Dave’s cake together right as the festivities began and him smiling huge behind his cake. Birthdays have always been a family event for my own and it’s where the entire house is filled with countless friends and the Lord’s joy.

Ebenezer’s Coffeehouse, DC
CJ and I decided to take a trip down to this coffeehouse that I’ve heard of going to for a few years now. The owner is one of my favorite Christian authors, Mark Batterson, who wrote In a Pit with a Lion on a Snowy Day and Circle Maker. We parked the car at College Park Metro and took the train into DC to find the cafe.
It’s really cool that the coffeehouse has all of Batterson’s books on a set shelf for sale. Low-key witnessing to the public community of DC!
CJ got an Americano, of course, even though it was in the middle peak of the summer heat, and I got a “lavender lemonade” which was utterly fantastic.
I loved how the place had little hints at Christianity, like their packaged coffee “Redeeming Grounds.” :)

Tulip Festival, Albany 2015
My boyfriend is very attractive, I know, but don’t tell him that.
CJ has a beautiful family. His mother, biological father, and step father all live under the same roof, along with two adorable doggies. Almaz (the black one) grew to love me and followed me around for the rest of my stay. On Thursday afternoon, we all piled in the car and drove down to historic Frederick, MD for some hot pastrami sandwiches and some sightseeing. I can’t wait til May when I can visit his family (AND DOGS) again.
After Charlottesville, we drove a little further over to Lynchburg, VA to visit my big sister at Liberty University. It was the best timing for Jackie to finally meet CJ. We all took a stroll down to the river, and I caught a few moments along the walk. I even saw some baby deer hiding in the trees!
We took a road trip down to Virginia on the Tuesday of our break, and visited our good friend Alex Carter down at UVA. The campus was super pretty with all the Corinthian columns on every building’s entrance. Spring was in the air: green grass starting to show, sunny skies, and college students enjoying the nice warm weather.

On the first Saturday of my trip down to DC, CJ & I went to Arundel Mills mall to find a cute elephant plushie. We finally found the perfect one in the last store we stopped in, and I named him ‘Peanut.’
