Notice how in 2016, Marina is shown to have a lot of friends who gang up on bullying Shizuka, but fast forward to 2022 in the original timeline, she's alone? We see none of her friends grown up, or maybe we did, but it doesnt matter, because no ones really around her anymore. If anything, it's like she's been outcasted by how threatening or weird she is. What happened?

My theory is:

After the failed attempt from Shizuka, she and her mother moved away from town. Marina is satisfied at first, because now the problem that tore her family apart is gone. However, Marina's life situation never went back to normal: Her father never came back as a husband and father they needed, and continued to distance away from them. This makes her mother even more upset and abuse Marina continuously.

Having to experience the horrors despite Shizuka and her mother being out of the picture, Marina gets frustrated, and eventually lashes out at her friends, since she has no one else to pick on. This shockibg beef between friends not only destroyed their friendship, but also soured her reputation from the rest of the school, socially isolatibg Marina from her peers.
