The endless sound of car horns and buzzing city street lights was common for Kasper, his apartment just a few alleys away from a busy street. But tonight, it all added to an already horrible day. First, the pizza place messed up his order, then no one was online to play Arsenal with him, and even his own cat refused to hang out. Damn Poptart and his free-roaming habits. If Kasper didnât have two loving partners waiting for a call, he wouldâve totally raged. Just as he reached for his headphones, a loud knock at the door interrupted him.
"Manâokay, I'm coming! Don't knock down my door, dudes!" The loud and rapid knocking stopped as Kasper creaked the door open.
"I wouldnât have to knock so loud if you werenât always wearing headphones," Lampert said, lightly rolling his eyes. You leaned over his shoulder, nodding in agreement.
"Sorry, Kaz. We wanted to surprise you! We brought food!" You grinned, holding up plastic bags filled with snacks and junk food. Lampert held up a small backpack. "And some movies to pick fromâwe brought your favorites too."
Kasper stood in shock for a second before throwing the door open and pulling you and Lampert into a tight group hug.
"You guys are awesome, seriously! Today was so lame," he said. Lampert, who usually scrunched up his face at hugs, just rolled his eyes and patted Kasper on the back. You chuckled, squeezing Kasper before nodding toward the door.
"Great newsâwe brought ice cream! So letâs head inside before it melts."
After storing the snacks and opening a few bags of chips and soda, all that was left was to pick a movie.
"I really donât want to watch White Chicks again. The jokes werenât even funny the first time," Lampert said.
"Dude! You just donât appreciate classics! Itâs a masterpiece!" Kasper shot back.
Their bickering over movies was almost as entertaining as the movie itself, but you were here to watch something. Shuffling through the small pile of DVDs, you held one up.
The two paused, looking at you with loving but judgmental expressions.
"BabeâI love you, like, a lot, butâ"
"No. I refuse," Lampert interrupted. "Iâd rather go to sleep right now."
You quickly raised your hands, dropping the DVD. "Okay, okay! No Bee Movie."
Lampert nodded approvingly, grabbing another DVD with cars on the cover and tossing it to Kasper.
"Take it or leave it, 'cause Iâm getting tired." He yawned as he scooted over, casually leaning on you for support. His lampshade made it difficult to rest his head properly, so this would have to do. Kasper nodded, hopping over to the DVD player, popping the movie in, and then jumping into the cuddle pile with you and Lampert.
"Itâs like super cozy over here, bros," Kasper said, lying down on Lampertâs right side while you snuggled up on his left. The couch made a surprisingly great bed for the three of you. Absentmindedly, your hand found Kasper's, and as your breathing slowed to match Lampertâs, the city's noise and car horns seemed to fade away. In this moment, the three of you had your own little slice of paradise.
