This sample was knitted on the Shima, using a beautiful merino yarn from Uppingham Yarns in the UK, monofilament, lycra and nylon. I love watching what happens when the sample is steamed!

Still more to do and some nuno felting to get onto too

Digital prints on a very fine piece of machine felting. The sample is very thin so we decided not to wash it as per the usual process in case it fell apart, so I gave it a gentle handwash instead. The ink really washes out but I don’t mind that. I then did some machine felting over the top of the washed piece -  it’s still a work in progress.

This is a machine felt sample that I’ve stamped holes out of using leather-ware tools and I’m awaiting the result from the lab of the photograph digitally printed on it.

Working on the Brother Domestic Chunky knit. Still some work to do but I like the textures and effects that can be created by hand manipulating the stitch structures.

One of my faves. I made this on the Brother Domestic Chunky machine. 

Trying out digitally printing over a merino Shima knit swatch. This might not have been the right shot to print over the structure, but I love the texture that comes through the knit and I also like the slightly washed out colours once the print has been washed. I’d like to do more of this.

These are a combination of intarsia and plain all needle, using back and front bed to create different structural effects. I’ve used monofilament, pearl lurex and gold lurex in the swatches - so much fin!

These were both produced on the Shima Seik. The navy sample is a combination of merino and metallic yarn, using all needles. The below sample ia half gauge sample.

Shima swatches, based on my micro photographs. More samples to come and then next step is to start on the garment design....

These were taken in the Catlins as we traipsed around beautiful beaches looking for locations. I’ll include these as inspiration for 2016 studio.
