He knew his friend well enough to not bother about his reaction at all, fully aware that Parker would find a way to entertain himself during the movie. He would be lying, however, if he said he didn’t enjoy listening to his whines and comments anyway. “I have the Blu-ray.” He replied with a victorious smirk, his eyes briefly focusing on Parker who looked as annoyed as expected. The smile grew wider. “The colors are so vibrant, it’s so impressive.” He too was predictable, as he quickly changed the topic to the animation. His fingers, resting on the couch, tapped away at the rhythm of the music, discreetly.

              parker was  a m a z e d  by how much sam could not give a fuck when it came to his choice in shitty films .  for as long as he could remember movie nights at sam's always went like this .   they would spend an hour ( if not more ) fighting over the genre & film and it would always END in the same was; sam picking whatever he wanted. so parker having to watch the lion king, didn’t really strike him as odd. he’d come prepared, his arsenal of witty commentary was fully loaded .  ‘ ━ you are a grown goddamn man ,  w h y  do you own a blue-ray copy of the lion king ? ’ parker asked laughing .  ‘ and you do realise i can burn that shit right ?  ’  he rolled his eyes as the music began .  this was gonna be a long night .  ‘ yeah so vibrant so beautiful . . . ’  he responded dryly .  ‘  you know what other colors are vibrant ?? the ones my brains’ll leave on your wall after ive blown them out .  ’

      nearly a week had passed since the gala. not long enough to erase the memory of it all, but enough that her wounds - at least the superficial- had started to heal. and yet her head was still plaguing her - a near-constant ACHE not unlike when she’d first received her powers. everything was too L O U D , too BRIGHT, and it was becoming hard to ignore. which was why she was here. a doctor’s surgery was one of her least favourite places, but it was the ONLY chance she had at feeling halfway normal again. her head tilted upwards at the sound of her name being called, and she glanced around, looking for the S O U R C E. a young man with a stethoscope around his neck ; ‘ that’s me, ‘ haven replied as she stood up , doing her best to ignore the dizzying RUSH that accompanied the quick movement. 

        sleep had become a  f o r e i g n  concept to parker as his days and nights of late had seemingly blended into one .  the hospital had been overcrowded since the fuckery at the plaza had gone down & though a good two weeks had passed some still remained in critical condition .   stuck on clinic duty he was trying to regain some of his sanity ,  after all ,  the clinic was less hectic than it was up where the action happened .   calling his next patient in he watched as the blonde that acknowledged his announcement get up and walk into the examination room .  ‘ so what can i do for you today ,  miss young .  ’  he asked for what was probably the billionth time that day ( the ONLY thing that changed was the name ) as he scanned the chart with the  i n f o rm a t i o n  the girl had filled out when she had first gotten to the hospital .

[ sam ]: Can't. I have work in a bit so I won't even bother sleeping.

[ sam ]: It's one of those nights.

[ parker ]: goddammit....

That SLIGHT SMILE on his face was IRRITATING.  MOST people would be TERRIFIED of her.  Or AT LEAST, she hoped to get a LOOK OF DISGUST, instead he was SMILING? WELL the joke would be on HIM soon enough. ‘ A WHILE, doc ? ‘ she asked with a SMIRK on her lips. ‘ You MUST NOT know that I’m PARTICULARLY GIFTED ‘ she said, ‘ EVENTUALLY, one of you white-coat types will SLIP and I’ll be WAITING ‘ a noticeable frown overtook her features, ‘ IF ANYTHING, my father will HEAR ABOUT this and HE WILL have your head ‘ she said, she RARELY used her father as a leverage but given her VULNERABLE STATE it was the only THREAT that held ANY WEIGHT. ‘  I DON’T LIKE YOU in any state ‘ she said shrilly, ‘ WAIT come over here, ‘ she demanded, ‘ Can I have a glass of water? ‘ she asked INNOCENTLY. 

       he couldn’t lie ,  parker was actually enjoying watching her squirm .  after all ,  all he had wanted was a please or a thank you ,   and he would have been happy to have HELPED .  but she went about this the  w r o n g  way .  that self-righteous entitled bullcrap he had no doubt she liked to pull more often than on just this occasion . . yeah ,   wasn’t doing it for him .  but the frustration was .  turning back he put one hand on the door frame as he talked .  ‘ tell daddy to bring the the keys to your cuffs ,  because i’m not sure how , but i might  accidentally lost mine .  ’   he pulled a FAKE sad face .  and as he turned to leave again he let out a laugh ,  ‘  water ? -- ’ he waited for a minute wondering if she really thought he was actually that stupid  &  if she did she was in for a rude awakening .  ‘ -- water . .  so you can elsa yourself out of here ?? yeah, i don’t think so . ’

The tv, way too big for someone who rarely used it, displayed the enormous movie catalog, which Sam himself had been roaming for a while before Parker got there, unannounced as per usual. The search didn’t stop then, as the two kept on looking for something to marathon together, but most of each other’s ideas were being shut down by the other. After a few minutes of silence, Sam sat up straighter like he always did when he had an idea. “We’re watching The Lion King.” He informed, rather than asking, as he knew what would probably be his answer.

         before the protest could leave his mouth sam had already pressed play on the lion king .  an annoyed look taking over parker’s features as she would be forced to ,  yet again ,   sit through the animation shit show that were disney movies .   he let it go though ,  because as much as he didn’t want to watch something dull ,  he would enjoy making SARCASTIC comments and annoying the hell out of his friend .  he was  g o o d  at that kind of stuff .   ‘  -- this is the last time we’re doing this ,   i’m canceling your netflix  subscription .  ’ he joked as the movie started ,   his eyes nearly rolling to the back of his head .  

            freddi wasn’t 100% in control of her power, she could go days without anything going wrong but it was just exhausting to always micromanage the amount of strength she put in any action. she was nearing the end of her ten hour shift, serving a customer a glass of water when they made a crude comment. she was caught off guard for a second and the glass of water shattered in her grip. freddi and the customer were both wet the floor covered in shards of glass and everyone in the diner had their eyes on her. “oh my gosh! I’m so sorry! it must’ve been cracked.” she quickly excused. bending down to pick up the pieces. it seemed like she was blocking the isle for someone so she stood quickly apologized again, embarrassment and distress on her features.

        parker watched the scene u n f o l d while trying to hold back the laughter that bubbled at the back of his throat .  the girl seemed helpless and the more she tried to clean the mess up the more of a mess she seemed to make .  deciding it would be CRUEL not to step in and at least offer some form of help ,  parker got up ,  approaching the blonde slowly .  ‘  it’s only a glass . . ’   he announced ,   a smile playing at his  l i p s  as he looked at her .   ‘  worse things have happened .  ’   letting out a chuckle he bent down to help her pick up the shards of glass that littered the diner floor .   ‘ you know ,   you really should try and get that under C O N T R O L ,   it’s glasses today but it could be accidental bone breakage tomorrow .  ’   he joked trying to lighten the mood & the distressed look on her face a little bit . 

              Felix pushed the other guys hand away, the light in his eyes was just annoying.                                           He felt fine now, other than the stinging echo of a slap to the face.                                  He’d come out relatively unscathed, though he remembered a few of his clones               taking quite the beating. He remembered the pain, he’d felt the pain,                                   but it no longer hurt. (“No - I’m fine. Get off me.                                                                            I wasn’t asking you to be my agony aunt,                                                                     just forget I said anything, now or in there…. alright?”)

           annoyed at felix for  s w a t t i n g  his hand away ,   parker put his hands up ,   as a sign of GOOD faith .    ‘ look if you need someone to talk to i can get you a few numbers . .  but you gotta drop the macho ,   i’m fine alpha male BULLSHIT act because i’ve known you for what  -- ’ he looked down at the watch on his wrist ‘ -- four minutes now.. and i can tell that whatever it was that happened to you in there ,   affected you in some way .   just like it did almost  a n y  other person i’ve checked out in the last few hours .  now you either  deal with it ,   or you continue  p r e t e n d i n g  you’re peachy keen . .  either way ,  you need to let me do my  job . ’ yes parker was being blunt but he was also being genuine .

Rowan raised an eyebrow at the stranger, he wasn’t someone she had encountered BEFORE. Or perhaps, he was just wasn’t WORTH remembering. ‘ TEMPORARILY. ‘ she pointed out to him, soon the air would become humid and she could pull the water droplets from the air. Granted she had NEVER DONE that before, but since she was a prisoner she had all the time in the world. Rowan sat up a little straighter, surveying him with her curious blue eyes. It wasn’t every day she encountered someone completely NEW given that New York had decimated, and familiar faces were common. She let out a MIRTHLESS laugh, ‘ Why WOULD I ask you nicely? ‘ she asked, ‘ You’d know I was only ASKING NICELY because I wanted something. Let me give you some logic here though, DOC. You’ve got a HOSPITAL full of nice innocent lives and I am anything BUT you let me go and you’d be saving them all from my FURY.  You’ll be the hero ‘

             parker  l i s t e n e d  to the girl speak, head slightly cocked to the side as he nodded his head along to whatever she said ,  the look on his face anything but impressed .  ‘ more threats, huh ? ’   he asked as the corners of his mouth curled up into a slight smile .  ‘  you keep ‘em coming , princess , you could be here for a while .. you’re going to need some form of entertainment .  ’  he informed her .  if there was anything parker couldn’t stand ; it was people who  T H O U G H T  that they could get others to do whatever it was that they wanted as long as they threw a few threats around . & parker, well he wasn’t the type to respond well to those .  ‘ as your doctor ,  i don’t see you FIT enough to leave .. there might be some brain damage from the events ..  ’  pushing off the wall he turned to leave, pausing for a second to look back at her.  ‘  and you know ,   i think i liked you better when you were u n c o n s c i o u s ..  ’   he added before turning back again to leave . 

Rowan stirred. her bright blue eyes fluttering open as she took in the surroundings around her. The ALABASTER WHITE of the room was a stark contrast to the deep purple mauve of her bedroom. She went to go wipe some beads of sweat off her forehead only to see that her hands were restrained. She closed her eyes trying to gather up the force to turn the bands on her wrists to ice, but the air was practically devoid of water vapour, making the task nearly IMPOSSIBLE. When a passerby walked by the room, she flailed her limbs to get their attention.  ‘ If YOU KNOW what’s good for you, you’ll let me go. ‘ she told the person before her. 

         as parker walked past ,  the  T H R E A T  coming from the room he’d barely passed stopped him dead in his tracks ,  an eyebrow raised incredulously as he turned around popping his head into the room where the restrained blonde yelled her demands from .   ‘   you know, kinda looks like you’re in NO position to be making any threats .   ’   he explained leaning against the doorframe as he spoke .   why was it always anger & frankly empty threats that people tended to  g r a v i t a t e  towards first when waking up in the hospital handcuffed to a bed .   wait  , cuffed to a bed .. yeah that was probably why .   ‘   TRY AGAIN & maybe this time ask nicely and i’ll c o n s i d e r helping you out ..   ’
