One of the reasons I broke with more mainstream Anarchist groups in favor of a Left Communist stance is their insistence on “lived experience” being the sole arbiter of the nature of oppressive structures. It’s a very Foucaldlian stance, even if they don’t know it: the meta-linguistic framework is deemphasized in favor of pure assertion of subjectivity. But people’s subjectivities are flawed - the nature of Capitalism that obscures the material relations between people means many are prone to skewed analyses: i.e. false consciousness. We should be working to educate disenfranchised communities as a first priority. However, not everyone will be able to grasp the minutae of critical theory, and it’s ableist to say otherwise. They will still have their place in Communist society nevertheless. Only after seizing the means of production and evenly expropriating society’s resources can we reach a place where we can theorize without interference.
