“PJ? You sure this is the only thing you could think of on a Sunday night?” Gradient sat in the passenger seat of his brother’s car, eyes nervously trailing over the rain coated road. His backpack strap tugged at his shoulder. It was October. The biting air permeated through the car and gripped Gray’s bones beneath his sleeves. Orange streetlamps reflected off the old raindrops stuck the window, the whole world seemed to hold its breath at this time of night. People would say this autumn was earned after the previously tortuous summer. But mid-October always seemed to feel uneasy.
