i think. prior to falling for nagisa, karma was one of those people who flirted with others as a joke/way to tease... and nagisa was not an exception to this but then karma catches feelings. and then all of a sudden he's really Aware and is like in the middle of teasing nagisa flirtatiously. he mentally freezes for a moment, flustered, and is just like "holy shit why am i Feeling things this is not normal this is supposed to be a joke right" he refuses to unpack this for a WHILE eventually he matures but he's still a loser and when he tries to hint to nagisa that he sorta likes him he uses stupid pick-up lines related to sonic ninja (all while internally melting. cringefail loser) and it works because nagisa is also a Loser
