The Leopard Women of Venus on giant saurians. Somebody's in trouble!

It's not as well known that Jack Kirby, along with Joe Simon, virtually created the "Romance comic" subgenre of comic books in the '50's. It was no joke - romance comics were among the top selling comics of that decade.

Very interesting paneling in this issue - not the standard square paneling - and while it's not unusual to see artists play with the panel borders, this whole story really pushes the envelope on each individual panel throughout the tale.

A really interesting - and minimal if not modernist - case of foreshortening.

A interesting perspective with the action heading at the reader.

I choose this panel for a variety of reasons, but primarily because I've never heard of Dan Barry, and shame on me for that because his art is top notch. The emotive power of the faces here is simply amazing - something probably helped by the inking of the legendary Murphy Anderson, who would later pair with Curt Swan to provide some of the greatest art on Superman ever seen. The whole story is just incredibly rendered.

A really interesting use of foregrounding here, where your eye gets drawn to the bat (a vampire in disguise) without losing sight of the Green Knight (a Green Arrow knock-off).
