Ok, I know a lot of people kinda hate ‘Sailor Moon Classic’-Mamoru and especially because of the infamous break up in the Black Moon Arc. I must confess it always bugs me a bit because this break up actually made me like him even more. Sounds weird, I know.

The Classic Black Moon Arc has it flaws of course, and it’s mainly due to sometimes stupid writing, but it’s not Mamorus fault…..let me explain:

There is this guy who had to spend the majority of his life alone and lonely. I don’t know about you but loneliness is one of the most dreadful feelings I can imagine.

Then he meets this girl that captures his heart almost in an instant and for the first time since he can remember, literally, he was not alone. He was loved and wanted and cared for and happy.

Then the dreams start. Dreams that are telling him to leave the love of his life or she will DIE!!! Like die…. because of him…. wtf….

Ok, might be stupid to listen to some fairly random dream BUT this is not the first time in Mamorus life that dreams are guiding him. Actually his whole life was guided by the dream to find the ’maboroshi no ginzuishou’ (I love that word XDD) to regain his memories. And this dream also lead him to the girl he loved.

There is no reason for him to mistrust his dreams. He instanly knows ‘This is not just a normal dream’. It means something. And the message is horrible.

So what is he left to do? Ignore it and risk the life of the person he most cares for? He tries to ignore it at the beginning but the dream is haunting him more and more, even affecting reality.

And what if he would have ignored it? Wouldn’t that mean he actually does not really love her? Not enough though to set her safety above his needs and wants? (which is actually King Endymions whole point I guess…….to test Mamoru °_____°)

Mamoru has no choice than to leave her, so he can save her life.

And this so fucking tragic.

He has to break not only Usagis heart, he has to break his own. After a life of loneliness he is forced to push away the one thing he ever wanted. Forcing himself back to loneliness. I can’t even imagine how devastating it must be to hear over and over and over again that you and your love should be the reason for your lovers perish.

He suffers just as much as Usagi does. And no one can convince me otherwise

It’s another question if he should have told her from the beginning but… knowing Usagi… I don’t know….

People do not need to like Mamoru but condaming him and saying he doesn’t care for Usagi because he “just“ broke up with her is simply not fair. Mamoru deserves more credit for his love to Usagi.

If you want to blame someone, blame King Endymion XDDD He makes really weird choices. I somehow can understand his motivation but his way to do it is…….bad. Really bad. Maybe this is one of the differences between Mamoru and Endymion…….

Just needed to get this off my chest :)
