Death never comes to those who find her
like a pelican that never perches
 it soars the sky aboveÂ
It’s amazing how life comes at you, and you find yourself in a place you can’t describe. One moment you are a five-year-old kid gaily running down the streets and the next moment you are a thirty-five-year-old man staring blankly at a computer screen with receding hair line, a paunchy belly and suspicious knees.
Sometimes you feel the world has lost its purpose for you and there is nothing left to live for but a can of beer and a bowl of fries while you binge away at Netflix on your seedy couch.
But what you do not know is that life has a funny sense of humour and it is never done with anyone till you leave this plane of existence and even then, it could throw you a curve ball and spin you back into existence.
So, you have closed for the day, and you are drudgingly strolling back home because you can’t get a bus and the new president has removed subsidy which makes getting a cab a suicidal action on your meagre pay.
And then as you stroll home, you hear a voice telling you to take a look beyond a hedge of flowers and then you see it. A dull black object just lying there but silently calling your name. You step closer and take a look at it, you know what it is but you have no idea how it could have gotten there or why it can call out your name. But you can’t resist it, and you step closer. You pick it up and caress it and it latches into your soul evoking a high even the strongest colos cannot achieve. Now you have a clarity of purpose of what it wants you do but you do not know how it would be achieved but hey! its life with its weird sense of humour and destiny and it would always lead you down the path it wants you to take.
So now you are walking gaily down the road, hands swing at your side as happy as a five-year-old with no worries in the world.Â
Now you are walking happily down the road and then you see it, the object jumps gaily in your hands like an eager puppy who wants to get off the leash. You tighten your grip, your muscles clench as you try to restrain it but it would not listen to you. The picture in front of you gets clearer.Â
You see a woman surrounded by five LASTMA officials, you have seen this scene a thousand time before and you know what it means. An innocent citizen tricked into violating a traffic law and now ganged upon by the rogue officials. She is not going to leave that place without parting with a substantial amount of money. You have seen this scene several time before and you had pretended you were armed with a gun, and you could gun down these rogue officials while laughing your head off like a bloody psychopath. But you are (were) just an ordinary citizen with no power to make a change; are you?
And then you look at your hand and you realize what you have in your hands is a gun a deadly gun with the power to mete out justice; the Lord’s justice..
You have never fired or held a gun in your life but somehow you know what to do, you go through the motions like a seasoned professional and you find yourself raising a gun at the officials, they look in your direction just at that moment; about to descend on you for interfering in their work. But they see the gun in your hand and it’s too late. The lord’s justice speaks with a loud and terrible voice. The lord’s justice finds them all and spares none.
The street erupts in chaos, pandemonium ensues, and you join in the melee. The lords’ justice has been delivered.
You join the crowd as they take off from the gun shots, arms scattered and feet flying you join the crowd as they race to the next bus stop, death and destruction behind.
You catch a bus and flee the scene, who had shot those officers? surely it was not you.
Now you are home chugging on your can of beer musing on the happenings of the evening, perhaps it weas a dream or maybe it happened but surely it was not you. You open twitter and the incidence is all over the timeline. It had happened but no one had captured a video of the incidence. No one could identify the shooter, but it had happened. And for the second time that monthÂ
previously a group of rogue SARS officers, now a group of LASTMA officers.
The people on the streets said he was a vigilante, and they had a name for him; The Lord’s justice.
Who will he call on next?
