- I LOVE the “Loved one coming back wrong” + “monkeys paw/ genie wish backfiring” tropes being combined

- You can notice how the fake Cherie keeps leading Polnareff further away from the shore while also distracting him long enough to not linger on the dead birds. I assume those details are also in the manga but I enjoyed seeing them animated!

- The flashback scenes help emphasize how Polnareff is letting his emotions cloud his judgement of an obviously precarious situation. He even states beforehand that he knows his sister is dead and buried (side note: that line is fucking heartbreaking) but once he hears the clay doll speak, he becomes desperate to make sure she’s real.

- It’s a small and perhaps insignificant detail, but I really like the line fake Cherie says: “You always did was I asked”. That comment could’ve just been a cruel jab but I like the hint at her real self possibly being a little selfish because, to me, I can definitely see her having a bit of a spoiled personality from being doted on by her brother.

- Related to the previous point: for as sad as Cherie’s character is in the story, I get the impression from the flashbacks that she was an overall happy child who enjoyed a good life, even if it was short and ended in the worst way imaginable. 😞

- It’s TERRIFYING how these clay dolls know so many intimate memories from their real selves. Super creepy!

- THE VOICE ACTING FOR EVERYONE IS AMAZING UUGHHH BUT ESPECIALLY POLNAREFF!!! Fuminori Komatsu did a stellar job in these episodes!😃 And fake Avdol’s raspier voice is an interesting choice 😮

- I love the detail of fake Avdol’s wound being so much more severe than the real Avdol’s injury. It’s an even crueler way to eat at Polnareff’s guilt and regret over his “death”. I think the same is done with Cherie, where she comes across as more sad and frightened probably to play on Polnareff’s idea of her last moments U_U.

- The suspense (particularly the music!), the hints, and reveal of fake Cherie is so well done! It’s so much like a classic horror movie scene and it’s cool to see it in Jojo (ok not really that surprising but I really enjoyed how it played out 😃)
