Today I burned incense. And I’ve known, that your touch is made of smoke.

“Aw, listen at you, lookin out for me.” They teased squeezing his hand and following. “May have just caught myself what is a travelin cold. It’ll be aight, though. Haps it is you can just kiss it better.” In truth, their calm voice had gotten quite the work out in nights past. They needed to get away and let the devils out someway. Better no one be wise to such things, though.

He kisses their forehead, fulfilling their request for kisses before turning to grab some honey and tea out of one of the kitchen cabinets.

“Travel sickness, you say? Well, we can’t have that! I’ll make something, with lemon and honey. I hear that helps a sore throat! Then we’ll start baking.”

He hums as he travels to the other end of his modest kitchen to pull out a tea kettle, then all the way back to fill it with water. He enjoyed being home and doing normal things like this, feeling like it was meditative to go through such mundane tasks.

“I wouldn’t dream, of starting without you! I just gathered up some things, so we can get all settled in.”

He pulled back to look at them, fussing a bit. He did want to make sure they were okay, of course. He had been thinking about how leaving for so long may not have been the best idea; he couldn’t keep up with the pappers to keep them protected!

“You look so nice, but you’re sounding a little rough around the gills. I can get you some tea, if your throat hurts, at all? Are you sick at all?”

He smiles at takes Mama’s hand, leading them out into the living room. If they were sick, they were going to get the coddling of a life time!
