#if this was originally mike sitting on a fed up lucas’ shoulders before the lighting got too hard and i gave up dw abt it #no i didn’t look at a single ref pic of them whilst drawing this yes i have total aphantasia no i dont care about accuracy Thanks #like i literally started this bc i saw a photo w this pose and was like waow time to draw otp #except i made it night time and colourful and it got too difficult #so like i know this makes no sense but like uhh you see the story behind it is #mike and lucas r drunkenly stumbling back to their apartment after a college party and mike suddenly decides he needs to see will #lucas is all dude if you wake max up we’re dead and mike just yells FOR LOVE LUCAS. I NEED TO DO THIS FOR LOVE and lucas just sighs #and is all what the hell sure FOR LOVE so they climb a fence and crash into the madwise backyard #spend a good 15 minutes trying to get mike upright without toppling over and finally manage it only for will to be standing at the window #brows raised one hand on his hip the other stifling borderline manic giggles at the circus act he just witnessed #mike is momentarily devastated he can’t throw rocks to get his attention but then lights up bc WILL IS RIGHT THERE and grins at him dopily #will just rolls his eyes w fond exasperation whilst fighting off a furious blush at the romantic gesture and pulls him into a kiss #mike gets so distracted w how much he loves will that he almost falls off lucas’ shoulder and spills his drink on his head #the commotion leads to the window next to wills flinging open w an irritated max leaning out to yell that this isn’t a romcom it’s 4am #mike gives her the saddest puppydog eyes and lucas tries to do the same except his head is covered in beer #max just stares at them before snort laughing at the absurd display flipping mike off and shouting something vaguely threatening #before slamming her window shut and deciding to ignore their antics. she unlocks the front door before crawling back into bed #this whole time will has been trying to muffle his laughter bc what the hell is his life. he loves it so much #gives mike a final kiss on the nose and tells them to use the door like normal people #mike nods so eagerly it unbalances him and lucas and him go down in a drunken tangle of limbs and flat beer #it takes them 5 mins to right themselves whilst constantly snipping at eachother before they scramble to get to the front door #will is still standing at his window observing all of this like *watches*#max is back in bed sighing at the ceiling as she listens to the commotion and waits for lucas to get his ass inside #eventually both boys make it in and high five each other (they did not anticipate this but pretend they did)#then they cuddle w the loves of their lives and fall asleep and everyone is happy the end #i literally don’t know what happened here why did i just write a mini fic #it’s 3am i’m going to bed good NIGHT #byler #will byers #mike wheeler
