Happy #NationalCaregiversDay! ♥️ It is one of the most selfless acts to become a caregiver and many have become caregivers over this past year. I think it is incredibly admirable to care for a loved one and even a stranger especially during this time. Before my grandmother passed away, my mother was there for her for many months as her caregiver. I know it was one of the hardest things she ever did. By hearing everything she went through to care for her mother during a global pandemic, she definitely set expectations high as to how 𝐖𝐄 should take care of her later in life as her children. I believe good karma will return to the wonderful people caring for those less fortunate and ill during this time. Thank you for your dedication and please stay safe. 𝐏.𝐒. I am a 𝒽ℴ𝓅ℯ𝒻𝓊𝓁 romantic and I love any chance to celebrate love. I used to say I was a “hopeless romantic”... until I finally met someone who made me believe in romance again. We used to get dolled up, escape to the city, explore new restaurants, and more. With the pandemic, we’ve had to celebrate our Anniversary and Valentine’s Day differently to be safe. So we ordered a cook-at-home kit from one of our favorite restaurants 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐕𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐏𝐮𝐛. We really miss this place and have had some wonderful memories there. Today’s prompt for the #hpstickerchallenge2021 is what “Makes you Happy!” Mine is simple and it happened very recently. It’s random acts of kindness that I document in my wellness planner and journal. We only recently started using @instacart and the drivers have been great! This young lady left a surprise note in my groceries this week with a funny sticker and it made my day. For day ✌🏽of #HPStickerChallenge2021, I thought I’d share my new planning method for the new year that helps me #KeepItFUNctional. 😊️ This year is the first time I’m using an hourly #minihappyplanner. I use my #classichappyplanner as my #catchallplanner and that is where I use most of my stickers (clearly, lol). However, I really love #timeblocking because it helps me stay very organized with all of my goals, studies, fitness, trainings, etc. I’ve typically used outlook and google calendar in the past but it’s too easy to ignore and swipe left on the notifications. #Tbt Bear got his name from the bear we encountered in @sequoiakingsnps last year. It was a life changing experience and absolutely terrifying. I can’t recommend the movie @pixarsoul and #ThePowerofNow by @ekharttole enough. If you’re trying to find your one little word for the year, these two resources might inspire you. My #olw is 𝓹𝓻𝓮𝓼𝓮𝓷𝓽. I have dozens of goals this year but I wanted to remind myself to stay present and grateful throughout every minute of the day. I think we confuse our goals and resolutions with needing to ruthlessly ignore the present and focus on the future. We think about our “future self” so much. We read our goals and remind ourselves of our goals constantly. I think the opposite might create more peace in our lives when we create 𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 with 𝕔𝕝𝕠𝕔𝕜 time from our goals instead of reading statements that dwell in 𝕡𝕤𝕪𝕔𝕙𝕠𝕝𝕠𝕘𝕚𝕔𝕒𝕝 time. When we’re truly present, honoring ourselves and cognizant of being our best self, we consciously create the future we desire by our present actions. #afterthepen for this past week. ♥️ We saw some of the cutest cats during our trip to a local foundation. We didn’t find one that we both really felt connected to and we strongly believe the cats pick us as much as we pick them. So we made the difficult but responsible decision to revisit in two weeks. 𝐏.𝐒. When we told our landlord we really wanted a kitten but you have to adopt them in pairs (our lease only allows for one)... No filter. ♥️ One of the quirky HR things I was known for at a place I worked a couple years ago? I would start each "𝐏𝐞𝐨𝐩𝐥𝐞 & 🅒🅤🅛🅣🅤🅡🅔" Committee meeting by asking the team if they’d like to share something they’re grateful for. I chose this practice because, based on my studies, I wanted to help managers shift from a fixed mindset to a growth mindset when stressed during a super bowl season. It took a while to catch on, not everyone would participate, and some days were goofier than others... but eventually it actually became pretty fun. Then we tried one-minute meditation, rock-paper-scissors tournaments and more, lol. I felt if there’s something I can be known for in my career, I’d prefer it to be making every attempt to spread more positivity, joy and laughter whenever possible.
