My graduate short animation! Monzie

My final character design- going with the middle of the three I changed Monzie's eyes to more human and less alien like! Added color too!

After hundreds of sketches I finally started refining and narrowing down three final concepts for Monzie’s character design. Each digitally painted, in photoshop. I was very fond of each of these as I painted them, but also skeptical about turning these into three dimensional digital models.... with fur! LOL ambitious   

Monzie didn’t begin with the story.. it began with this vision of a character. A toddler like fluffy monster. Who’s size and clumsiness made his walk weighted and heavy, but he appreciated the little things. He was full of innocence and curiosity. These are my very first sketches of Monzie. In charcoal, fineliner, and pencil respectively.

Over the next few weeks I’ll be posting pictures, movies and documents of behind the scenes work from my animation graduate film “Monzie” created solely by myself, a 21 year old creative from Melbourne, Australia. From concept drawings, to clay sculptures, from fur malfunctions and rigging horrors I’ll be posting, explaining, complaining, and showing my captivation for this bear like baby monster named Monzie that I modelled, rigged, skinned and animated. Showing everything right up until my films release to the public. Tune in to see the daily posts that expose how this ambitious project became my life for my final year of university!
