Here we are, months into a relationship between Sam and Steph. There have been numerous photos and sightings of them together. He has taken her to public events that I haven’t seen him take a gf to in YEARS. He has not hidden this relationship. She’s there. But there are still people who think they deserve for Sam to publicly announce to them that she’s his gf.
Okay, seriously… do we really think this man OWES us an explanation about who he spends his personal time with? He is an actor and a businessman. He owes us only the best effort and work he can give us. NOTHING else. We don’t deserve anything from him about his personal life choices- not a thing.
And all this overanalyzing about whether he’s affectionate with Steph in public. Like really, after all this so-called fandom has said about anyone he’s associated with, how those women and even male friends have been treated? You really expect him to let us see their most private affection for each other? He knows that no matter what he does you will criticize and doubt. If he’s not affectionate enough, it’s fake. If he’s too affectionate, it’s fake. Perhaps Sam has learned some very important lessons about what to keep just for himself and those he loves.
Nothing anyone posts will change this fandom. People here on Tumblr have already decided who he is and that won’t change. Their confirmation bias is so strong that everything they see or hear about him is always analyzed through that bias. Those who think he’s gay will always think that. Those who think he and Caitriona are married with kids will never believe otherwise. Those who think he is a player who uses women and moves on will always see that guy.
The saddest part of all of this is those who criticize how Steph parents or how long she grieved. How very hypocritical. So, grown adult women- probably lots are mothers- come on a SM site using a fake username to bash an actor and any woman in his life, and talk trash about him. They harass the woman, DM her, call her all sorts of names, stalk her SM, claim she’s a paid beard…the list can go on and on. But THOSE women are good role models for their kids? Women who gossip and bully like middle school mean girls- they are great parents, great people?
We DON’T know anything about her other than what she has chosen to share herself. It’s appalling to me that so many in this so-called fandom corner treat another woman this way. Do people truly think that Sam and Steph have time in their lives to actually craft how they will manipulate us?? Wow, what self-importance to think that they take actual time out of their day just to mess with us.
Honestly , the show has finished filming. There’s only a few episodes left and OL is done. If you just don’t like him, his work, or his choices anymore…perhaps it’s just time to move on with your life.
Sam is who he is and all our gossip, vitriol, and fake rage won’t change who he is. He’s a human being, an imperfect human being. His feet are clay. If he succeeds, good for him. If he fails, he will learn from it like we all do. His star may continue to rise or it might burn out. If he has found love in his life that is worth celebrating!
Isn’t it past time to just let him be??
There’s SO MUCH MORE horrible stuff going on in the world right now that’s way more important than who Sam may be in a relationship with. Maybe it’s time to put our energy into repairing our world rather than tearing his apart.
