1. prefers quality time

helen isn’t the biggest fan of physical touch nor gift giving. however, he does appreciate it when you sit in his art room while he paints. it’s not even that you guys have to be talking—just being in the room with him is enough. he enjoys not having to put up a show, having to act all lovey dovey on you and doting you all the time (he will do it sometimes).

2. sympathetic to you

helen is an apath, he really do not care. so, expecting him to show empathy towards you or even anyone for that matter is large order. even for you, he struggles. but, at least, he shows sympathy. sure, he’s not gonna completely understand why you’re crying over spilt milk but he’ll wipe away your tears and silently grab a rag to help you clean it up.

3. you’re his muse

you’re the first person he’s ever allowed to get this close to him without his intention of killing the person later. so, instead of turning your body parts into art, he paints you. when he’s in his room at the mansion, missing you, he likes to take out his notebook and sketch you from memory. you’re always baffled on how he can perfectly capture you on paper. he simply smiles in response.

4. bottles up his feelings

he isn’t the person to come to you when he’s upset or if you’ve done something to offend him but there are some signs! most of the time, helen thinks his sneaky because no one has ever noticed before (on the account that no one really cared 😢😭), but he acts like a big grumpy cat. he’ll glare at you from across them room when he thinks you aren’t looking then promptly avert his gaze when you feel his eyes on you. he’ll often give you the silent treatment, only answering with grunts and nods. the first time you asked him what the matter was, he was shocked. after a few minutes of trying to get him to open up, he finally answered. turns out, he was mad that you took down a sketch of you that was on the fridge—you promptly put it back.

5. night owl and drags you into it

he frequently stays up and it’s not even because he’s working on a project. rather, his brain is too restless for him to sleep. in these moments, he sometimes asks you to watch a movie with him. it’s early in the night, and you agree. but then, one movie turns into two, then three, and by the fourth one you’ve either passed out on his shoulder or on the arm rest of couch. only then does he look at the time and rub his eyes before picking you up and putting you to bed. majority of the time he’ll join you in bed, as he falls asleep faster with you. sometimes though, he’ll put on another movie and finish watching the movie you fell asleep during with you tomorrow.

6. domesticated lover

helen doesn’t really know how to show affection to someone and they only affection he’s ever wanted was from his parents. thus, he believes you’d want the same(only at first though). in the beginning, he would cook you breakfast every morning he could. if he couldn’t that day, after finishing his tasks, he would come and wash any of the dishes left in your sink and even (somehow) clean the whole house while you were asleep. when he sleeps over, he makes sure to fluff your pillows and securely tuck you in for bed before sliding in next to you. in an attempt to return the favor, you helped him wash all of the paintbrushes. when he found them dried on a towel when he visited you again, he stood there staring at them for a moment before appearing behind you and awkwardly giving you a hug.
