I mentioned this some time ago, but I think this deserves its own post.
One of my favorite Smith47 interactions happens in Hitman Contracts. It's a line that can be easily overlooked, but once you realise that it came from 47's subconscious.. it feels much more special.
It's the last thing that Smith says before he runs off.
"Yeah.. thank you. Listen, I- I hope we get to meet again under more favorable circumstances." and 47 replies with "Yes, that might seem possible to you."
This is already a sweet interaction, but Smith actually never said this in the original since this is a remake, which means that 47 made it up. It's something that he wanted to hear from Smith. He's projecting his own desire.. which is to meet Smith again "under more favorable circumstances".
Of course a remake wouldn't have the exact same dialogue as the original. However, Smith didn't have a reason to say this to someone he just met. (He also asked him "Who are you?" at the beginning.) This is why it stands out. In reality, 47 has met Smith many times by now and his mind conjured up the last part.
47's reply is important as well, because I think Smith represents that optimism and hope that 47 is missing. The chance that they get to meet in a less stressful environment seems low, but not impossible to Smith. (At least 47's version of Smith.. which is very cute.)

Silly scenario I was thinking about. Smith & 47 are on vacation and they decide to get some Turkish ice cream. (In case you don't know, the ice cream guy will do tricks and mess with you.)
Smith would be oblivious and reach for the ice cream and thank the guy.. but suddenly he's just holding an extra cone with no scoops in it. He would try to grab it 8 times and get absolutely destroyed by the ice cream guy, 💔 until he finally gets his sweet treat and a speck of vanilla on his nose. (Smith asks himself if it was worth it, but after tasting the ice cream he would definitely do it again.)
Then it's 47's turn. Smith watches as 47 reaches for the ice cream and grabs it at the speed of light. The ice cream man stares at him with disbelief and Smith chuckles and thinks to himself "I don't think that was supposed to happen."
There's actually something interesting about Smith's pain tolerance because he's ginger. (Up until 2016 he had red hair, until they changed it to brown.)
It's kinda relevant since he gets tortured a lot.
So, Redheads have a higher pain tolerance in general. (And this is probably why Smith can take a beating.)
They're less sensitive to electric shocks, needle pricks or stinging pain. However, they're more sensitive to temperature changes and thermal pain.
They also bruise more easily.
Smith has been tortured by electric shocks on Ambrose, and he wrote "I'm so tired of the shocks at night.." on the letter in his cell. Being tortured sucks either way, but he seemed to be doing fine.
Smith has also experienced temperature related pain in Hokkaido, when they put him in the freezer.. and he was in pretty bad shape.
He also seems to be tolerant of needles, since he didn't react very strongly when 47 injected him.
I don't know if ioi has even considered this detail about Smith, but it has become one of my headcanons for him.
Redheads also need more anesthetics. (20% more from what I've read.) That's why a lot of gingers are scared of the dentist.. (Both Smith and 47 shivering in fear at the dentist office for different reasons.)
On the other hand, they need less opioids (pain killers).
I wonder if this played any role when he was drugged. Maybe he had a stronger reaction to a certain medication at the rehab center.
Same thing with alcohol. I've seen anecdotal evidence that redheads might have a higher alcohol tolerance, and I think Smith does too.
Even though he was pretty drunk during the Cult mission, he was still coherent enough to give 47 intel. He also said "I got plenty of food you see." which makes me think that he already drank a lot. (There's also a bunch of crates with alcohol in the room.)
Anyway, I think it makes a lot of sense that Smith has a higher pain threshold and it's funny that there's a scientific explanation for it!
