In Aziraphale's memory of the Land of Uz we are basically shown Aziraphale's problem dealing with Heaven as a contrast to Crowley's dealings with Hastur from season 1.
Heaven agrees to something that Aziraphale's understanding of the world is evil/impossible. (The loss and replace of the 3 children with a wife that's pass child barring age. ) So Aziraphale finds himself doubting God. Aziraphale goes so far to check in Heaven -so other celestial beings are aware of this doubt. Doubting God is the sin that Job is being tempted into. (So maybe this is only a sin for mortals)
Aziraphale acts as the messenger but can't take action to prevent the calamity.
Aziraphale is then tempered into gluttony. (Which he keeps has a pocket appearance of humanity.) Which is a "mortal sin". (Does it then only apply to mortals? In Narina - voyage of the Dawn treader we are told mortals can't understand the sins of stars. Maybe God felt that the gag reflex for celestial beings would be enough)
Aziraphale then lies to fellow Angels in order that the outcome isn't too terrible.
"This thwarting the will of God. " (Which seems to pretty clearly be a sin for celestial beings.)
Crowley understands that Aziraphale is going to be upset (which given this their 4th meeting is impressive.) but in some way appears to be equally sure that Aziraphale won't fall. So why was Crowley aware that unless Aziraphale underlineds it for Heaven ; Heaven's understanding is that the doubt, gluttony and thwarting of God's will doesn't matter. Crowley on the other hand is shown that his sin, questioning God, for mortals doesn't result in much. (So maybe it was less the suggestion box, & more the contains that got put in?)
Was this Crowley's attempt to bring Aziraphale to hell, I don't believe so - he himself comments that Aziraphale won't like it very much & doesn't try to trick Aziraphale who is 3/4 convinced himself to just go of his own will.
Why is Crowley aware that the rules have changed for Aziraphale/the heavenly host? Doubt was enough in the old days to get you off the team.
