Owen was born and raised in London alongside his parents and younger sister. He had a happy childhood, though he was a fairly spoiled boy born with a silver spoon in his mouth, just like his sibling. His parents did well financially, so the family lived comfortably, went to good schools, and rarely had to worry about much. His father had a talent for buying and selling businesses, and his work often took him across the world. That success came with a price, however—his father was gone for long stretches of time, which caused strain at home.
By the time Owen was seventeen, his parents’ marriage had started to unravel. Arguments became frequent, and soon the divorce was final. Not long after, his father left completely to live a life without a family holding him back. For Owen, it was devastating. The man he once admired was suddenly absent and wanted nothing to do with him.
In high school, Owen found comfort in a boy he met. They liked each other deeply, but because of the times, they never made their relationship public. Behind closed doors, though, they were happy and even planned to move in together after graduation, finally living openly as a couple. Owen was excited—he truly loved him. But when the time came, Owen sat waiting in the apartment he had prepared, and the boy never showed. Days passed before Owen realized he’d been abandoned. The heartbreak hardened him, pushing him toward a colder, more guarded version of himself. He swore off love, told himself he’d only keep things casual, and threw himself into work instead.
After finishing school with a business degree, Owen began buying, fixing, and selling small companies around England. The work suited him, and soon it became highly profitable. Before long, his ventures expanded across Europe, and he built a busy, successful life for himself.
Meanwhile, his mother and younger sister moved to the United States to join Owen’s uncle, who encouraged them to start fresh there. Before long, his mother met someone new, remarried, and added a stepfather and stepsibling to the mix. Owen wasn’t thrilled. He resented the idea of his mother moving on so quickly, and he especially disliked being older than his new step-sibling. Still, he visited during holidays, traveling back and forth from London to Kismet, Oregon. Over time, his bond with his sister strengthened, though his feelings toward his stepfamily never warmed.
Last year, a friend reached out to Owen about a property for sale in Kismet. He took the opportunity, moved to town, and quickly sold the place. What was supposed to be a short trip stretched longer as he found other business opportunities in Oregon, all while spending more time with his mother and sister. Even now, though, Owen doesn’t stay put for long his work keeps him moving between London, Oregon, and beyond. He enjoys his freedom, his success, and the life he’s built, even if he never truly allows himself to settle.
