I feel like it’s better for things to be boring around here than for them to be exciting. Exciting at Roselle Academy usually means punishments and bad things.

Smart people listen and follow orders. They know what’s good for them and what’s not, and you seem to fit the bill. However, it’s not that hard to be smart and play pretend, so don’t let it go to your head. No, thank you. I’m possessive of what’s mine; I don’t like people touching my things. Goodness knows what germs and diseases people bring into this place. You have a point, but I’d probably care more if I were interested in making friends.

Being here for two years has definitely taught me how to behave, so if that’s what it takes to be smart in your eyes, then I guess I’ve got that down at least. Don’t worry, I’m not playing pretend when I’m being good. I like pleasing people, and that just doesn’t happen when I’m not on my best behavior. I’ll definitely stay as modest as possible, Sir. I have a feeling that it’s hard to earn compliments from you, so I won’t take your praise for granted. Oh, that makes total sense. No problem, Sir. I just thought I’d offer. If you don’t care about making friends, how do you keep from being lonely, Sir?
