The whole “choice feminism/let women be sexual” bullshit has led to people actively condoning and supporting underage girls being sexually exploited, objectified, and commodified by pedophilic agencies who are profiting off of their bodies and putting them on display for creepy, vile, and disgusting perverts, this type of sleazy ass shit is what people see as “empowering” now, this is what people have normalized and see as a GOOD THING. Young girls being pushed to cater to and please the male gaze the second they become “old enough.” I’m so fucking sick of it. I give up. I’m done.

A couple days ago I saw someone on Reddit complain that they got their post deleted from the kpopuncensored sub because they said that all of the stray kids members were straight and I just had to laugh for a little bit because…Felix??? Straight??? Hyunjin??? Straight??? Bffr. 🤣

In my opinion, for a story to truly qualify as feminist, it’s not enough for it to JUST have strong female characters that influence the plot and aren’t walking stereotypes. That is important, obviously, but having well-written female characters isn’t the only thing. The story must also have a large number of female characters who interact with each other regularly and have meaningful(positive especially) relationships with each other that do not revolve around men. If a story does not have an equal to predominantly female cast(relative to the amount of male characters, if there even are any), then I find it hard to say that it qualifies as feminist, at least for me. Relationships between women in media matter just as much as the female characters being complex and interesting. Because anyone could write a strong female character and call it a day. But can you really call the story feminist if they’re the only woman in the main cast, or if their only interactions with other women are negative?

When it comes to the whole “kpop idols would think that you are ugly/judge you in a bikini” argument, I do generally think that this is at least partially true(after all, when you are groomed in an industry that tells you that you have to adhere to a certain very strict, narrow, and unrealistic beauty standard in order to be beautiful and successful, and that normalizes plastic surgery and eating disorders, it’s almost guaranteed to warp your perception of what real beauty actually is), however, I also think that this is such a ridiculous thing to complain and worry about? Because it’s obviously just a bunch of insecure people projecting their own insecurities onto idols because of jealousy and low self-esteem, they feel terrible about themselves and so they project it onto these drop-dead gorgeous people and assume that they’d also feel terribly about them, in order to feel better about their own self-hatred, but also these kpop idols are under such ridiculous pressure to appear perfect at all times and are CONSTANTLY judged by their companies, fans, staff, and everyone around them if they gain weight or if they have a certain facial feature that is considered unappealing, that it almost seems mean to make thinkposts about how they’d apparently judge you or consider you the fattest and ugliest and most disgusting creature to ever walk the earth. When they all have such intense body dysmorphia and severe eating disorders, I feel like they’d be far harsher on themselves than they’d be on you and far more insecure about their own looks than you ever would, which obviously doesn’t make them exempt from directing that negative body image at other innocent people, but still, at least try to have a little bit of empathy? It’s just quite ironic to see people say “this idol would judge me in a bikini” or “they would definitely call me ugly/make fun of me behind my back” when we all know good and damn well that a large part of why idols starve themselves, get extreme plastic surgery, and go to drastic measures to fix their appearances is BECAUSE of the bullying from fans, who would probably be more likely to judge the idols whom they claim would judge them than the other way around. It’s just plain fucking weird to see fans be so judgemental of idols while also insisting that idols would be judgemental of them, lol.
