i think one of the reasons why some girls strive so hard to emphasize that theyâre âintellectualsâ and would âmuch rather curl up in a sweater with a good bookâ is because society tells us that loud, scantily-clad party girls are âshameless bimbos who are asking for itâ. so of course girls are going to constantly remind you that they love sweaters (to cover themselves) and books (to prove their intellect) because thatâs the opposite of what is so fiercely scorned in young women. and yeah, sure, some of us just enjoy classic novels and cable knits- but some of us emphasize the fact time after time, as if society has forgotten, as if that affirmation of our interests is all we have. we try so hard to prove our individuality and intellect, not to be praised but simply to be seen as a person. and now? society is convincing us to scoff at the âsweaters and books/not like other girls stereotypeâ. itâs just this constant double mobius reach around of women trying to prove themselves to be people and society publicly shunning their every attempt.
