These men are sex offenders. 

Jesse, Jason and Kong (no last names available) run a Youtube channel called “Simple Pickup” which supposedly instructs the viewer how to ‘pick up’ girls. In reality, the channel is a guide to street harassment. 

They harass numerous girls in their videos and encourage their male viewers to do the same thing. They sexually humiliate women by ambushing them on the street and saying hideously inappropriate things, like "do you shave your vagina?" or “your nipples are obviously pierced” . They touch girls without permission, even fondle their breasts without consent. In one video, a girl tries to get away from being touched, and then gets so scared, she calls to two other strangers for help.

Women and men in ancient Egypt enjoyed the same legal and economic rights. Women could divorce their husbands and remarry.

Women and men were also subject to the same punishments.

Women worked many of the same jobs men did, most in the fields. Life was tough, though women did live longer than men (58, 54)

Women could hold political office, with several examples of female pharaohs available. There were at least 5, not including the Cleopatras and other Greek rulers.

Women could also hold lower political office, with many being scribes.

Women who were on their periods were considered to be removing impurities. They were excused from work and forbidden from some religious areas.

However, women themselves should not be shamed for being sexual sometimes of their own consent. Women who are sexual by their own CHOICE are often shamed as sluts (despite women being constantly portrayed within media as sexual) and that is messed up. 

To spin a larger narrative around it: We want control over WHEN we are sexual and when we are not, we don’t want sexuality to be forced upon us and objectifying, but to be an option we can choose at times if we like.

Peace is necessary for education. In many parts of the world, terrorism, wars and conflicts stop children to go to their schools. We are really tired of these wars. There was a time when women social activists asked men to stand up for their rights. But, this time, we will do it by ourselves. I am not telling men to step away from speaking for women’s rights. Rather, I am focusing on women to be independent to fight for themselves. 

Today we call upon all communities to be tolerant – to reject prejudice based on caste, creed, sect, religion or gender. We cannot all succeed when half of us are held back.

We call upon our sisters around the world to be brave – to embrace the strength within themselves and realise their full potential. 

Let us pick up our books and pens. They are our most powerful weapons. 

Even little kids have a wage gap

Boys, on average, spend two fewer hours doing household chores per week than girls do (they play two hours more).

If they live in households where children are compensated for doing chores, boys make and save more money.  

A 2009 study conducted by University of Michigan economists found a two-hour gender disparity in responsibilities per week in a study of 3,000 kids.

75 percent of girls had chores, while just 65 percent of boys do

This disparity in chores and free time continues into adulthood all over the world.   According to the Organisation of Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), men “report spending more time in activities counted as leisure than women. Gender differences in leisure time are wide across OECD countries.”

Year after year, studies repeatedly confirm these patterns.

The problems women face with unequal pay and housework duties actually start in childhood.

The fact that boys’ chores appear to be more profitable makes the childhood chore gap even more disturbing. Turns out, parents tend to value the work that boys do more.
