The Life of Two "Ordinary Teenagers"

how much the human mind can want. You want to know why we want so much? Because we always compare ourselves to others. We always want to better than the next. But, throughout this season of giving and such, I find that I got it good. I didn't ask for much this Christmas, because everything I need, I already have: a warm home, a loving family, and true friends. What more can I ask for? An iPhone? Nah. Not necessary.

I have been told, plenty of times, that high school would be the most fun years of my life. 

Well, that's very wrong.

Maybe I'm just being dramatic, but that's not how I see it. High school is where people are twisted and shaped into someone that they aren't. They try to fit in with society. Some become emo, gang-related, drug addicts, or just flat out jerks. And the one thing that every one of them has in common is the fact that each of them are judgmental. High school is where an individual determines how they plan to live their life: Burger King or Success. With students who judge others based on ethnicity, appearance, decisions, or actions, how is one really able to find themselves? Well, they can't. 

For example,

In middle school I had this friend. Let's call her Carmen. She was innocent and sweet. She was small and korean. But then she moved. Now she's at some other high school. She's on drugs. She's dating some ghetto boy with tattoos all over his face. Carmen has provocative pictures of herself all over her Facebook. And her best friend is some pregnant girl on drugs.  

In middle school I had this friend. Let's call her Maria. She was one of my best friends. Maria was shy, and never wore any make-up or did her hair. Until high school. Maria goes to another high school, but we still communicate through Facebook. I swear, she looks like a freaking barbie. She's gone through dozens of boyfriends. And, she's decided to drop all her honors classes.

I find it rather nice to be myself, though.

This is high school.

Why must everyone pretend to be something they're not?

What's so wrong with being yourself in the world we live in nowadays?

By being yourself and letting your true self shine through, you'll make more of those rare friends that everyone seeks in their life. But you'll also learn so much more about who you really are.

For instance, I love Harry Potter and am I embarrassed by the thought of people making fun of me for that? Definitely not.

Be who you are and don't be afraid to be different.

Don't try and "fit in" with the rest of the world.

You were born to be yourself and to express who you are; don't ever let anyone tell you otherwise.
