​today, the street i usually take to get across town was completely closed down; so i had to drive right past it. i looked over as i passed. i marveled in a sad sort of awe at how big the trees i’d planted had gotten; they looked so massive, healthy, and beautiful compared to when i packed up and left. i felt happy for them, and a bit sad for myself.

​i went on about my business and came back the exact same way. as i was driving home, i started to contemplate. the street i moved to and now drive down daily, a street that once felt completely foreign and unfamiliar, has now become comforting and familiar; and the street i spent years building a life on now feels foreign and new.

​life is just kind of like that. it is ever-changing; and change causes things once deeply comforting to slowly ebb away into things that feel unfamiliar.

​but when life offers up that kind of friction, it takes real courage to move forward. even though you might be losing something that once felt like home, you can always find that comfort again in the new space.

​yes, it was heavy going back down my old street and seeing it with completely new eyes, but driving back down my current street made me realize something...if i hadn't moved, which was the first of many massive risks i took that year, i wouldn't be anywhere near where i am now. that single move started a momentum of life changes i never could have expected; opening up the exact doors i needed to finally become the person i always wanted to be.

​i guess my point is...we are always going to feel a little bit of sadness when we take those big steps to leave the comfort of familiarity. i'll probably still avoid driving down my old street whenever i can; but those uncomfortable steps are the exact ones that end up changing your entire life...

a low-stimulation sanctuary shouldn't require you to strain your ears, so i am making the executive decision to pull back and bypass our Saturday shift entirely. we are prioritizing the sensory quality of the channel over forcing a broadcast.

by Sunday evening, the neighborhood sky should be quiet, the noise should be gone, and we can open the bar doors under pristine, peaceful conditions. it is going to be the absolute perfect antidote for the sunday scaries.

​first, the absolute win: a complete stranger dropped into the sanctuary during the starting screen just to ask if they could leave the balcony on as background noise while they did their weekend homework. hearing that my voice could act as someone’s study sanctuary is exactly why i built this storefront; it made the launch entirely worth it.

​unfortunately, the local neighborhood fireworks out here completely red-lined my microphone track shortly after; it was competing with my voice so badly that i chose to pull the plug early and delete the archives to protect the sensory quality of the channel.

I am tentatively saying we will try and restart tomorrow at 8PM CST. unfortunately the noise of tomorrow will be even worse...I've adjusted some settings and filters...hopefully they will help but i'm not sure we will have the capacity to go live tomorrow either.

​starting tonight, the balcony doors are opening up to Glitch City for our very first shift in VA-11 HALL-A. if you’ve never played it, it is a beautifully slow, cyber-noir narrative game where we mix drinks and listen to the stories of the regulars.

the weekend shifts:

​friday night (tonight): 8:00 PM CST. the grand opening shift at the cyber-bar.

​saturday night: 8:00 PM CST. part two of the weekend wind-down.

​sunday dusk: 6:30 PM CST. a gentle, low-stimulation sanctuary to help you beat the sunday scaries before the work week hits.

​we had one minor 20-second mute panic at the very beginning, but my mod saved the day and the technical side held up flawlessly for the rest of the night. running on late-stage tattoo flu vibes made the 4-hour mark pretty exhausting; i definitely didn't anticipate how long that third day in-game was going to stretch, but diving into the character dialogue for inKONBINI felt incredibly natural. it was the exact kind of slow, conversational headspace i wanted to build.

tomorrow and wednesday are entierly dedicated to starting my sleeve tattoo...it's going to be a heavy, exhausting couple of days...but it feels right to get it done before the big shift on friday.

despite the busy week ahead...all I'm really thinking about is friday night at 8 PM CDT. opening up stream, putting on the lofi, and finally starting inKombini with whoever decides to wander in...

i've wanted to build this quiet little corner for a while, and i'm genuinely ready to meet everyone and breath for a bit...

just checking to make sure you're taking a second to breath today...here is a soft glimpse at the sanctuary balcony as i do some testing today. just waiting for the open sign to turn on.

i officially open the doors on June 26th. We will be starting with inKombini. until then, the tea is hot and the couch is always open if you need a quiet place to lounge.

left the house at 6:20 this morning...got back at 5:45 tonight. an 11.25 hour workday on about three hours of sleep...the mind and body are operating on very limited function right now.

but walking into my space and seeing the technical setup almost locked in...it reminds me why this project matters so much to me. taking this extra week for medical recovery and rest is exactly what was needed. if this space is supposed to be a decompression chamber for you...i have to make sure i am practicing what i preach behind the scenes.

no rushing. no forcing things through the exhaustion.

the technical kinks are almost smoothed out now...the overlays are humming softly...and the weekend sanctuary layout is almost ready.

next friday, june 26th at 8:00 PM CST...we finally open the doors and settle into the quiet, 90s world of inKombini.

i wanted to give a small update...

i know i said i'd be debuting this week, but I had a routine medical thing earlier, and it's left me more worn out than I expected.

on top of that, work is a bit overwhelming right now after just getting back from being away.

so instead of pushing through it, i'm going to give myself a little time to recover properly.

i'm hoping for friday or sometime over the weekend, but i want to see how i'm feeling first.

i appreciate you being here, even before things have really started. it means a lot more than i can probably put into words.

like rain, or late night music, or a quiet conversation.

i'm starting my VTubing journey soon...

i know my appearance might come off a little intimidating at first...but the space i want to create is the opposite of that.

something quiet. something soft. something you can just exist in without feeling like you have to be "on" all the time.

no pressure to talk. no pressure to be entertaining. just...being there together.
