Secrets Can Kill: only 90s kids will remember
okay, admittedly i just took screenshots from a let’s play on youtube for this one because i have no easy way of actually playing the game. plus i didn’t want to go through all of it again. fuck slide puzzles.
anyway. SCK. first of all i wanna say that the character design in this game is so much better than the remastered version. and the outfits make sense!!!
you know when this game was released? 1998. you know what fashion era these kids fit into? nineteen ninety fuckin eight!!!!
that’s the problem with SCK2, they totally forgot the game is actually set very much In The 90s, so they just converted the outfits to bland weird shit that can be more easily rendered in 3D, and it resulted in disaster. but the original? see for yrself...

So much hate for my girl Connie </3
don’t worry i have a WAY different opinion about her Look in the original SCK!
also.... for the record i’m mostly focusing on these characters’ looks, not how i feel about the characters themselves, except in certain cases.
Secrets Can Kill (remastered): awards & final score
here we go folks!! here’s my final assessment .... click thru for more!!
Secrets Can Kill (remastered): you’re leaving the house wearing THAT?!
ugh, teens! how do you put up with them? rebelling against society, taking risks, getting into trouble—and have you seen the way they dress??
hey clue crew! welcome to Outfits Can Kill, a blog about the fashion of Her Interactive’s Nancy Drew computer games. i’m setting out on a quest to play the games one by one, and as i do, comment on all the stunning, groundbreaking looks showcased therein. my goal is to work my way from the beginning of the series, starting with Secrets Can Kill (both versions), and end with Midnight in Salem (since it’ll be out by the time i’m done with this, i’m sure).
each game gets an overall score, plus awards (including Best and Worst Dressed awards) for individual characters. i might also investigate deeper into history/background of the fashion in the games, if it piques my interest or seems warranted. this is an experimental project so we’ll see how it goes!
a little bit about me: my name is Seth. i’m from the U.S. and i’m 24 years old. i’m pretty new to the Nancy Drew games, which is part of why I’m making this blog. i’ve played a handful of the games already, but i wanted to give myself an excuse to play through the entirety of the series—i could just search Google Images or use stills from LPs, but it’s not nearly as fun.
my main blog is @georgexfayne, so if you get a follow from that account, it’s me.
thanks for reading! stay safe out there...
p.s. big thanks to @obscurum-passagium for introducing the Nancy Drew games to me in the first place, and being supportive of this weird blog venture !!!!!!
