I recently shared Chapter 8 with my former beta reader. They no longer have the time to beta read the story, but they managed to knock over my fragile house of cards of a structure by pointing out something important about the story 🫠

It wasn’t just about Chapter 8. Their questions made me go back and examine the logic behind some little “details” of the story. Then they started asking a few frustrating logical questions about how that logic afects Chapters 15 and 16.

I both love and hate them for it, because they’re absolutely right… They always push me to make sure every piece fits together and that the story stays somewhat consistent from beginning to end.

The funny (or painful) part is that this even affects Chapter 6, which is already published. Now I’m trying to decide whether I should go back and make some small changes on it or find another solution (less dramatic) to keep everything consistent without changing what’s already out there 😩

I’m so sorry this is taking longer than expected. Chapters 8 and 9 aren’t especially long, but they’re the point where the story begins moving toward the direction I’ve had in mind since the very beginning. I want to make sure that this detail doesn’t affect the core of this story.

I just wanted to share Chimigo’s little trip through Europe.

He became my emotional support through museums, train stations, airports, rainy mornings, and very, very long walks.

His tiny golden button survived the whole trip, only to get lost once we got back home 🫠

you're absolutely fantastic at executing subtle psychological horror and all that spooky stuff, i've genuinely never read any piece of horror media that has me on edge like your writing, i feel like i never know what's going to happen or what elements are real vs. the house playing dirty, it's so impressive, especially considering how english isn't even your first language?? i think i've re-read chapter 6 like five times already to satisfy my horror itch til ch7 drops LMAO (if you have any horror/romance or fic reccomendations in the meanwhile/any authors that inspired your writing let me know!!)

Reading this genuinely made my day. I’m always a little shocked and grateful when people tell me they’ve reread chapters because I still feel like I’m throwing ideas at a wall and hoping they come together and create that spooky atmosphere.

It means a lot to hear that the story still works even if you’re not deeply familiar with JJK. Honestly, that’s one of the biggest compliments I could receive 🫶

And thank you for noticing the psychological horror elements! Creating that feeling of uncertainty, where you’re never quite sure what’s real and what isn’t, is probably my favorite part of writing this story and don’t worry, it is intentional. Hopefully everything will make more sense as future chapters unfold.

As for inspirations 🤔 well… one of the earliest sparks for this story actually came from a fic that I absolutely loved, but I think sharing it right now might accidentally influence how people read "TMUMB". I’ve been thinking about sharing all of my inspirations once the story is finished. That specific fic reminded me how much I love stories that blend romance, yearning, a little angst, and of course: monsterfucking 🫢. I was also inspired by a lot of Japanese horror films and ghost stories that left me with that lingering “something feels wrong” feeling. I’d love to say more, but I think that might spoil parts of the story.

Apparently there is a limit to how many drafts, notes, scene fragments, word count, and translations a single story can have before your organization system collapses.

Mine, sadly, was Notion 🫠.

Now I’m experimenting with Obsidian and Novelcrafter because the combination of the original version (in my native language) and the translation finally broke everything I had in Notion and my phone notes.

Google Docs and Word are amazing, but I just can’t get along with their mobile versions.
