First ad!
Here it is: the first spot for Our Ads Here! It’s in this week’s Chicago Reader, an alternative weekly that’s been a Chicago staple since 1971. Enjoy!
Our Ads Here
Newspapers are a staple of American history. Across the country, their pages are filled with all sorts of worthwhile information to help make you a more informed citizen. Plus, they have Garfield, who really hates lasagna and also Mondays.
But I think they can be even better.
In 2017, I will be buying ad space in newspapers across the country, so that I can put ridiculous stuff in newspapers everywhere and make our daily lives a little more fun.
With our ads, we will be able to inject a little silliness, fun and absurdity into the everyday lives of hundreds of thousands of newspaper readers. Just imagine how much more interesting we'll be making our newspapers—how many readers’ days we will be brightening, how many sleepy men and women we'll confuse before they've finished their morning coffee, how many commuters we’ll cause to awkwardly laugh out loud in a crowded bus or train car?
Why Newspapers?
Millions of people still get their news from newspapers. But despite their essential contributions to American society (see: reporting from the 2016 election season), many papers are struggling amidst sinking ad revenue. So I figure, why not put a little absurd comedy in an unexpected place while simultaneously supporting local journalism (not a bad bonus, right?)
We’re Doing It!
Thanks to a Kickstarter campaign, we raised nearly $2,500 to purchase ad space in several incredible newspapers around the country. The ads will be debuting in 2017.
Keep an eye on this site for future updates on the projects, and to see the ads themselves when they're published!
