Monday, we made artwork for the room because the walls are so plain. The other kids, in the pictures, are from class one and came in because class was over but Anil and Passang were still drawing.
Tuesday we didn’t even have class, which was nice because I didn’t have to feel bad about not going. I’ve really been trying to downplay how sick I’ve been because I don’t need people worrying when they can’t do anything about it (especially my mom). But for the past week and a half I’ve been really sick and on Tuesday I woke up feeling like I was half dead. Dawa took me to the doctor and they thought I might have typhoid so they drew some blood and told me to come back thirty minutes later. Turns out that my Delhi belly(over a week ago), in conjunction with me drinking only one litre of water a day, made me severely dehydrated and was also the reason why I had an on and off fever. So, I got three days worth of antibiotics, rehydration powder, and some sos pills for nausea. This entire visit cost me a little less than two dollars. Someone explain to me why I spent 100+ dollars on travel insurance…
The new volunteers have been here since Monday and boy are they a trip and a half. Fourteen of them came at once and it’s been almost impossible to get a moment of silence, not to mention the newly formed couple that camps out on my balcony for five hours at a time every freaking night watching every movie known to man. I cannot wait till next week when one of them leaves.
Honestly though, it’s been nice having new people to talk to that don’t complain about everything while constantly asking to use my stuff.
Today, I went to the puja, at my monastery, and it was intense. I wish I had my phone to take pictures because it was seriously impressive to watch and be a part of. My kids were sooooo freaking cute even though Passang and the kids from class one were just hitting and pushing each other the entire time. Anil, as usual was quiet and didn’t really act up much. It was cool to see the older kids, that never get to come to class, in roles that were more involved, like Jigme. He was carrying the front of these HUGE horns that one of the lamas was playing while we walked out of the monastery and through the courtyard. I saw Dorjee tending fire pits on either side of the main entrance and Phurpa was mostly running around being bad, but that’s nothing new. I have no idea where Sonam or Lhundup were, but hopefully I’ll see them tomorrow.
