"At least we're getting richer"
Anti-Shell subvertising in the London Tube
some people on the internet have only been on here for five minutes
i will never get over this one iâm afraid
The number of times I have been delighted by witty banter only to find out later that I was âFlirtingâ is both unfortunate and disappointing.
âhaha so what about that guy, huh?â
Me: what about him
âWell you seemed super into himâ
Me: what why
ââŚdude you were flirting all nightâ
Me:
Me: Whoms'tâ˘â˘
I found out several of my female coworkers were planning on trying to get our male coworker to ask me out because âYou guys kept flirtingâ but I was like âWe were literally just goofing around. Like we literally just told jokes to each other. Literally just stuff that friends do, the same stuff you and I do.â I was definitely 100% NOT flirting but everyone thought I was
âYou were laughing at everything TJ did!â
âHe paper clipped a banana to the ceiling, Isabelle. Thatâs fucking bonkersâ
This might be a good time for Ms. Psych degree here to step in and let ye all know that People Are Unable To Identify Flirting. There are double-blind studies to support this, if you instruct participants to flirt or not flirt with another participant, neither the second participant nor onlookers are able to accurately tell which instruction the first participant was given. Even if you get the flirting participant to rate their attraction to the person theyâre flirting with, and only count trials where people are either flirting with people they find attractive, or not flirting with people they donât find attractive NO ONE CAN TELL WHO IS FLIRTING OR WHO ISNâT.
Iâve heard that people actually have a *less than 50% chance* of guess whether someone is flirting or not.
Thank fuck this isnât just me failing at humanity
SagePub has one such study here, dated 2014. There might be more recent work, however.
âhey this dog looks to be struggling to perform very basic functions and that is very worryingâ âwell ACTUALLY if you STUDIED THE BREED STANDARD youâd see that this dog is actually the IDEAL ______â YEAH. THIS TOO IS THE PROBLEM. WHAT ARE YOU NOT GETTING.
âyou canât blame breeders for breeding to standard :/â i actually find it very easy to blame them. they are the ones creating the dogs on purpose, you see
most braindead fanbase on planet earth lmao
So the UK will reroute a fucking Internet cable for a fake grave for a fake elf because a bunch of brain dead nerds through a pissy fit, and meanwhile real actual natives in the US are getting arrested for trying to keep oil sand pipelines from going through their actual graves, holy sites and unceded territory. Burn it all down.
oh it's worse, it's not an internet cable, it's a cable for distributing cleanly generated solar/wind electricity
this grave has a real life physical location and YOU 𫵠can destroy it
they routed the project and such that it's close to an actual Bronze Age burial site btw. so they're possibly disturbing REAL graves in order to not "disturb" a fictional character's "grave"
Yeah, this is in West Wales - Freshwater West in Pembrokeshire. Shit head tourists keep going there and littering it with fucking socks and painted pebbles. It's in a national park and is environmentally sensitive, so yes, please, do go and destroy the fucking thing

Noted: misogyny is a skill issue
Someone asked me a while ago if I still had a photo of the worst sink I had ever seen while apartment hunting in Los Angeles. I assumed I deleted it so I didn't answer the ask and now it's gone, but as it turns out, yes, I do still have a photo of it.
impressive! it's ugly, impractical, gets water everywhere, makes too much noise, and the quote with shit kerning says you don't think music is even real

Islandâs government says no approval given after Greenland Energy brings kit ashore for exploratory drilling
Tom Burgis Sat 8 Aug 2026 06.00 BST
An American oil company connected to Donald Trump is preparing to sink wells in remote Greenland despite not having received permission from the local authorities.
As the US president renews his threats to claim the vast Arctic territory, materials to prepare for drilling were brought ashore in recent days on Greenlandâs eastern coast.
That has prompted Greenlandâs government to issue a âstrong warningâ that no approval had been granted to land the kit. âAll future logistical matters must be advised and approved by the mineral resources authority â before they are carried out,â the government said in a statement.
Two days later, Trump made his latest menacing post on Truth Social, showing himself looming over a Greenlandic village.
Executives of Greenland Energy, a Texas company set up last year, have claimed that $1tn of crude may lie beneath the Jameson Land region. They announced plans to spend $60m drilling two wells to find out.
Although Greenland stopped issuing new oil licences in 2021 on environmental grounds, a UK company called 80 Mile had secured exploration rights in Jameson Land. Greenland Energyâs corporate filings say it will take a majority stake in the project in exchange for funding the exploration, though it still needs government permission to proceed.
Greenland Energy has retained Phil McGraw, better known as Dr Phil, a prominent rightwing former chatshow host who served on Trumpâs religious freedom commission, to make a documentary series that will âcapture the mission of these modern-day wildcattersâ.
It has also appointed as a director a US navy veteran who is working on Golden Dome, the missile defence plan for which Trump says controlling Greenland is âvitalâ.
Larry Swets, Greenland Energyâs chair and a big shareholder, appears to enjoy access to Trumpâs circle. He has said the oil project is ânot related to American annexationâ.
After a company representative falsely claimed at a Jameson Land community meeting in June that it had permission to land drilling equipment, Swets said: âOur enthusiasm for the project led us to communicate in a way that created confusion.â
But the next month, local people in the sparsely populated region noticed a tug pulling a barge shorewards and unloading a dozen containers. âThe goal was to get the equipment onshore at Nunap Qeqqa [Jameson Land] in connection with planned oil exploration drilling,â the Greenland governmentâs statement said.
The Danish investigative outlet Danwatch quoted the head of the shipping company as confirming the delivery was for Greenland Energy.
Greenland Energy has declined to respond to questions from the Guardian. A letter it sent to shareholders on Thursday said: âRecent high-level meetings between project leadership and Greenlandic regulatory and oversight authorities have been constructive, and we continue to be encouraged by the progress being made toward the remaining approvals required for drilling.â It said that after those discussions, just one well would be drilled to begin with.
As a semi-autonomous territory of Denmark, decisions about Greenlandâs natural resources rest with its local elected leaders, who now face a delicate decision. They could grant permission for oil drilling, even though the planned wells appear to fall within a conservation area protected by the Ramsar convention on wetlands. Or they could refuse and, some worry, give Trump a pretext to advance his imperialist agenda.
The Greenland governmentâs statement said it âwould not be proportionateâ to demand the equipment be removed. An application for permission remained under processing, it added.
A Greenland Energy representative has said a vessel carrying its 300 shipping containers of drilling equipment is to set sail from Canada on 12 September. Sinking the wells would begin in October.
Jeff Landry, the hard-right Louisiana governor serving as Trumpâs Greenland envoy, has said Greenland could be pumping oil next year.
oh sick someone paved this whole road with good intentions. i wonder where it leads
