You are not required to forgive your abuser if you do not wish to. Ignore all pressure to "be the better person". You are already the better person by not being an abuser yourself.

Movie of the Day: Batman
I'm a huge advocate for the 1966 Batman tv series. I went through my generation's typical journey with the show. As a kid in the 80s, watching it in daily reruns on local tv, I adored it. As a teenager, after the Tim Burton movie came out, I thought the show was an insult to the very idea of Batman, like the goofy comedy cheapened it somehow. Much later, as an adult, after decades of grimdark overly-serious Batman movies and comics, returning to the show was a breath of fresh air. I GOT it. I got the satire of it, the way it pokes fun at the format of comics. Even the bat-labels are just there to mimic the captions from the comic book. It's so tongue-in-cheek but somehow played with a straight face, walking this tightrope of humor that could so easily descend into total stupidity, but manages not to. It's perfect camp.
The movie was produced quickly to capitalize on the success of the series, popping into theaters just two months after the first season had aired. It features four villains from the series (Cesar Romero, still the best Joker; Frank Gorshin as the Riddler, Burgess Meredith as the Penguin, and Lee Meriwether replacing Julie Newmar as Catwoman; Newmar was unable to be in the movie because of a back injury). Some of the movie's bits have become iconic, ironically or otherwise.
Realheads get it.
Batman was released in theaters 60 years ago today, July 30, 1966. It was modestly successful, but not the hit 20th Century Fox was hoping for. The series itself continued for two more seasons.
Together but not touching
Having been Very Online in the mid 1990s is rough because half of your formative influences are like "yeah, this Flash video engages in pop culture deconstruction that's strikingly topical even thirty years later and did things to my vocabulary that persist to this day, and I can literally never recommend it to anyone because its core premise is a level of homophobic ordinarily observed only under laboratory conditions".
Them: Hey, you were around for the first wave of real webcomics. Which one was your favourite?

#thank god homestar runner aged well (via @shibascarf)
Homestar Runner is the way that it is in large part because it's a response to the 90s edgelord bullshit I'm talking about; while the characters had earlier appeared in print, the Flash animated version that everybody remembers didn't debut until January of 2000. If it's aged well, that isn't an accident – it's a product of its authors looking at the state of 1990s Internet culture and making a conscious decision to be Not That.

What this means
This post is ancient and stupid but I still laugh whenever I see it
I won't let you fall .
On the Nintendo Today app, one of the selectable themes is the Donkey Kong theme. The theme has an Easter egg whereby on the 30th of each month, the animation actually differs based on whether that is the last day of that month, or whether that month also has a 31st day.
Both animations start off identically, with King K. Rool playing dead on the ground, with the text "The Month is Over?" However...
Left: on a month that does not end on the 30th, King K. Rool wakes up suddenly as the text disappears, signifying that there is still one more day left.
Right: if the month does end on the 30th, the text fades into "The Month is Over" without a question mark as King K. Rool remains dead.
