leopald had friends in all kinds of placesโteachers, scientists, doctors, and therapistsโฆ all kinds of professions, and all of them were offered to me. you see, leopald never told me what was wrong with me, but that something was wrong with me. i was a secret meant to be held in confinement and never set free.
i never had friends growing up, i had tests, procedures, training and strict curriculum, but never a peer to talk to.
i suppose it's why when i met mordred ulysses fontaine (@occu1tic), my partner, my best friend and whatever else was there. i attached myself to him, much like a spirit. ironic enough, it made sense for me to be drawn to him. beings from the supernatural world always were. of course i didn't know that about myself until later on. it still a little fuzzy on how it all makes sense.
the way mordred and i got on you'd have thought i was a master at developing friendships with strangers, that id done this before or all my life. a social butterfly in a world of moths to the flame. in fact out of us two, i talk better with people, his eye contact pulls away, but i know how to draw the eye back. look at me. see me for what im not. that mask was my face slipped over my head the day i was born. mordred he saw right through that, but he couldn't tell me what i was dying to know. what the hell is wrong with me.
old man leopald eventually spilled the beans when i backed him against a wall and gave no other choice. like a gun to his head, he spits it out or i blow his brains all over that wall he's up against. you see i found a file. apparently the creatures of the otherworld sometimes get too caught up with the mortal one, so much so they end up knocking boots and getting knocked up as a result. normally when this happens and the child is born on the mortal side they die instantly, this world rejects them and the demons feed on that energy like it's candy. however, the case with this kid, it was born on the other side but left in the mortal world to rot. like spoiled fruit, forgotten at the doorstep to your neighbors homeโ your neighbor who is grieving the loss of his wife and hasn't stepped outside since.
the kid was lucky though, if you can call it that. someone found him screaming his face red. instead of doing as he aught to. what was in the code he followed, he kept the kid. ran tests, raised as a mortal, trained, and educated. in case the conclusion is lost on you, i'm that kid.
