“Vincent can put me back.” She replied “Klaus, I know it is a real mess but I am not your enemy, here.” Faith raised her brow 

“Well i will share a secret with you, everyone is my enemy. Even the ones i love have a great history of betraying me.”

“Well that’s the problem isn’t it? Because you aren’t in your witchy body. You are here. Which means you can’t help.”

She laughed, “Oh we can certainly not let his kids without an education”, she liked how easy it was with him, their asy banter, their teasing, even the serious conversations were easy to have with him. 

Caroline sighed when he said it his siblings, looking out to the window and realizing tonight it was full moon, “I’m assuming doesn’t see her mother on the say she’s human? Do you want me to go with you or should I stay here?”. They were still in the nursery with Hope playing with her stuffed bear. 

“No we very much can not do that,” he teased softly. “Maybe we could just add your dry cleaning to the pile. Do a good think with it.”

“Oh, no,” he said, shaking his head. “I didn’t mean that i would be going. I do not go. Hayley very much does not want to see my face. As you can understand. So I will give Hope to Elijah. He will take her out to the Bayou to be with Hayley.”

M’gann had to force down the instinct to phase out behind the wall, or to mentally damage him. She inhaled, calming her sense of alarm as she dealt with the firm grip of his hand on her neck. His threat, though well said, did not change her expression. Speaking at this time seemed almost unwise, given her first impression of Klaus.

“You seem to have taken care of yourself given so many enemies. It seems like the most mutual beneficial ways.” M’gann commented still watching his expression. When he mentioned her kind, M’gann swallowed a pit into her stomach. They were dangerous, but she knew how to camoflauge herself from them. “They are nomadic, I don’t stay long enough in one place to learn their location, and vise versa.” She explained, taking a deep breath. “We tend to avoid high populations of other supernatural creatures. It is how we survive, blend with humans.” She added, it was all true.

She heard that he was a hybrid, just one of many reasons his father hated him. Mikeal hunted him for it and compelled her to do the same. Even if she did her best to be the absolute worst at that. “One thing I wish we were able to do back was be married like we were suppose to. But I suppose that wishing for different outcomes when something had already happened is silly”. She knew that if they were married when the family had found out about his hybrid side that she would have fought for him, for Niklaus to have that part of himself.

“It’s not that, back then I didn’t have much control over my power. I suppose the real reason that I’ve been justifying is I was afraid that I meant nothing to you. That I was just some random girl that you’d be happy without the commitment of marriage. I was also afraid that if I was anywhere close to you that I’d hurt you because that’s what your parents made me believe. That I’d easily be able to kill you if I was near you. And I understand why you are angry with me, and nothing I could say can change that”

“It would be pointless to think about what could have been. Not when everything had changed so much since that time. I am not the same man i was back them. Marriage isn’t something that i would be good at. Even back then.”

          Buffy’s head tilted to the side confusingly, her eyebrows quirking in bewilderment. She let her guard down and her arm fell to her side. “What?” she let fall from her mouth. “Aren’t you… I mean… Sorry, I’m confused. If you aren’t here to fight then what do you want?”

“I don’t know why they did what they did, neither do you but I have to believe that things are different, that we aren’t just bitchy clique filled supernatural beings. It’s part of who I am, part of who she will be. I can’t turn my back on a piece of who I am - something I’ve been searching for my entire life.”

“You mean like a family? Like the one you have now. With us? With your daughter? Not some wolves in the woods You might be looking for something but you are looking in the wrong place.”

M’gann sighed, closing her eyes she took a few minutes to breathe lightly. Her eyes flashed green, iris glowing like emerald’s in the sun. “You wish for loyalty?” M’gann asked, starring at him as he stepped closer. It was amusing and almost admirable how he didn’t back down, even with the disadvantage he held.  She rose from the chair, letting it dissolve back into the blackness of his mind. “I thought you would understand, being hated or feared by your own family. Something I felt we both understand, and the lack of trust is not something only you share. I know you can hurt me, make me wish I was dead and not deliver. I opened myself, my past, my identity to you in hopes these kindred emotions would help us understand each others plights.” As she spoke the darkness faded back to the alley. 

Though she was no longer standing, instead knelt below him. Her neck exposed, as she tilted her head to the side, making her vulnerable. “I swear to never hurt you or your family, and if the case may be that you no longer have need for me. I will slink back to the shadows and move far across this earth to never be near you or your family again. On my life, I offer you my powers and service and in return I simply ask to remain by your side for as long as I may.” She spoke her eyes lifting to his. If he killed her, she hoped for something swift, something to take her off the Earth. Running for as long as she had, from her own kind, from humans. It would be peaceful to be relinquished by a reforming beast. 

The moment he felt the firm ground under his feet as they were back in the alley; he reached for her throat throwing her up against the way. His hand tight around her throat but he didn’t press to kill her. “If you crease to be of use to me, you will not have the chance to step back into the shadows,” he warned her. He paid people with death. Or in the case of katerina he made them wish for death when their pride made them try and surprise him.

“I thought my parents didn’t want me, gave me up where I was bounced back and forth from home to home. She comes first, she always will because that is what a parent does. I have a responsibility to our daughter but I also have my ties to the pack and I will not forgo one for the other.”
