Instead of celebrating a stupid American holiday that shouldn’t exist, I’m going to post about my disability for awareness.
This is some symptoms I experience in my life caused by my Congenital Myasthenic Syndrome. It’s a rare genetic disorder that affects your muscles. Not just arm and leg muscles but face and neck. I sometimes have a rough time lifting my arms, carrying things like plates, walking at big places like the mall without a seat, even holding my head up on bad days. I do have the Dok7 gene which is more common than others and I have medications that help. But sometimes like today I have flare up’s. My weakness can flare from many things like walking/moving for too long or carrying something too heavy. But it can also be caused by weather.
My heart goes out to other disabled people who are going through this heatwave who also have difficulty in the heat/extreme weather. We can get through this, remember your meds, stay hydrated and cool, take breaks when needed, and listen to your body. Do NOT overexert yourself. 🩷
