There are levels of bootlicking that you never thought possible happening on twitter
As someone who recently got on Tumblr on a friends recommendation, the difference between Instagram and Tumblr is insane. I’ll go on Instagram and see borderline live leak footage, every kind of radical propaganda possible, and live footage of our democracy collapsing. Then I’ll go on Tumblr and it’s just people barking at each other
I have a bit of a theory regarding the insane pivot of the BOS between fallout 3 and 4, and it mostly has to do with the Enclave. In 3 the Brotherhood of Steel is this altruistic, good meaning and helpful faction that wishes to do good for most of the capital wasteland.
In Fallout 4, they’ve pivoted HARD into a fascistic Army-state intent on wiping the Commonwealth clean of any and all creatures and factions they consider to be a threat. Why is that?
One could chalk it up to Maxsons reforms and call it quits there, but I believe that the Brotherhoods change in demeanor runs far deeper than just Maxson. I believe that either A: elements of the Enclave infiltrated the BOS after broken steel, or B: Lyons BOS recruited some of them into their ranks.
The evidence is a little flimsy but this is what I’ve got: Danse describes the conflict in the Capital wasteland as a civil war (he could obviously be referring to the Outcasts, but the outcasts were refolded in after Maxson took charge and it would not be unbelievable for former enclave members to create a revisionist history). We also know that shortly after the events of broken steel, the BOS becomes entangled in a war with Super Mutants (who would be particularly useful in a war against these mutants? Enclave personnel, specifically those that worked on project purity). There’s also the fact that the BOS pivoted so hard ideologically from Lyons brotherhood, going so far as to predate on the settlements they once helped, and acting far more like an Enclave contingent rather than, well, the BOS.
Frankly speaking, I know that this theory has a LOT of holes, but I think it works well to explain why the BOS has changed so radically between 3 and 4. Feel free to comment your own thoughts or rip my theory to shreds :>

I understand why a lot of fantasy settings with Ambiguously Catholic organised religions go the old "the Church officially forbids magic while practising it in secret in order to monopolise its power" route, but it's almost a shame because the reality of the situation was much funnier.
Like, yes, a lot of Catholic clergy during the Middle Ages did practice magic in secret, but they weren't keeping it secret as some sort of sinister top-down conspiracy to deny magic to the Common People: they were mostly keeping it secret from their own superiors. It wasn't one of those "well, it's okay when we do it" deals: the Church very much did not want its local priests doing wizard shit. We have official records of local priests being disciplined for getting caught doing wizard shit. And the preponderance of evidence is that most of them would take their lumps, promise to stop doing wizard shit, then go right back to doing wizard shit.
It turns out that if you give a bunch of dudes education, literacy, and a lot of time on their hands, some non-zero percentage of them are going to decide to be wizards, no matter how hard you try to stop them from being wizards.
