The sky is erupting, but we live under the sea., 2014, 8m 50s.
Oranje Lwin (Video) / Etza Meisyara (Music)
I made a new friend. It has a love/ hate relationship with civilizations for making it a domesticated pet.

It exists among us, a being that is defined neither by our common tongue nor perception. Civilisations with their people, cultures and architectures rise and fall as the hour of time passes. Even as it exists in a non-space, it remains confined within the frame of this world as the only vital force, where we as human beings will have become the static 2-dimensional constructs.

I Don’t Need to Edit Reality ; The Reality is Always Modifying Itself
Tension in Persistent Habitual Repetitive Behaviour
In Oranje's painting installation, we can see immediately that she wants us to become a part of the installation by seeing our reflections side by side with her painting installation. Those reddish eerie images of children (of the world) are not very clear. Somehow we can see that those images of a person had been stripped off again and again. The painting presented is actually traces of the painting process itself. I would say that for Oranje, the tension between drawing and painting in the painting process is a way to escape the assumed reality of systematic aspects of convention about certain kind of representation (in this case: painting). She used the so-called-negative-space that relates a lot with drawing, but she still uses the crack of the oil brush mark. The mark that is familiar or resonates with painting. Persistently she keeps being attracted to images of deceased children as reference. She kept adding reddish oil marks using a brush to canvas, then stripped them off using turpentine and cloth. Then she added and stripped them off again repeatedly.
She said that she wants to get the essence of a person and yet she keeps adding those oil paints only to strip them off again.
I am enticed to wonder about her childhood memories. What happened as she grew up and how those memories shaped the self within her now. Through these disembodiment images, we may ask, what happened to these children that resonate with her childhood? Why it becomes important for her to share it with us? Do they resonate with us?

Paradoxical Space Redux, 2015, 5min 43s
Filmed in one take.
Performers utilised their physical bodies to paint shadows in between spaces to investigate the transgression between what is perceived to be real and the dream.
The video clip ran on a continuous loop to accentuate the infinite repetition of state of things until an elusive permutation could be located for the release.

I am unsure if these should be categorised under a certain series, but for now they were painted to reach for the light that emanates from the soul.
Beauty is in the death of the beholder, 2012 - present, oil on canvas, dimensions variable
In this ongoing series, each figure is extracted from the surroundings and its form, rendered incomplete, is drawn to a white space which devoid of context to capture the essence of a life that has not really been found.

Somewhere Years Ago, with The Cinematics. How to be Rich, exhibition at The Vault, 28 February to 30 April 2013.
“Somewhere years ago, we reinvented a new way of seeing things that we took for granted, like a trombone quintet; a sound that already existed. The orchestra that our silences produced. From a Gulag, like ABC soup on a rainy day, like how the birds hop on their two feet, at one Al Jilani near one Waterloo Street. Uncle was still roasting chestnuts that were one day late. Like Four Season's coffee, on a rainy day, the smell of rain, the stillness from lack of sleep, the silence from exhaustion, then all things stopped. Do you see those stones in the sky? There are no _isms here. Even in Norway. There should be more beer, to accompany...”

All that is heavy rises up into the sky, 2012 - 2014, mixed media installation
This catapult utilises the ability of one to imagine. It transports only the curious into another existence where one’s imagination catapults him to the other side. Occasionally, it would launch coconuts or papayas when other physical bodies such as humans run dry with imagination.Â
