Her character would interpret murder attempts as love confessions. You may not like such an immoral preference but that’s the point, the Addamses aren’t supposed to be liked. They’re satirical characters that are embodiments of everything eccentric and unconventional. Tyler’s sadistic nature only magnifies his compatibility with Wednesday. Even better, he’s a monster that needs a master. Gomez basically worships Morticia and would willingly die and k*ll for her. Addams women tend to have their men on a leash, and isn’t it convenient that Tyler is deteriorating desperately in need of one.
