Security Breach, Code Orange
Lewis tended to avoid people for the most part. He didnât want scare anyone until he figured out how to pass for human, ie manifest legs.
But it was an overcast night and a new moon on top of it. It was so dark he felt like his flashlight barely pierced pierced it. His anchor thudded like a heartbeat and he fought to hold back the panic welling up.
The big gaudy neon lights in the distance were like a godsend and he flew right to it. There were only single car in the parking lot, it was late enough the facility was probably closed.
It was easy for a ghost to enter though. It looked like some sort of indoor amusement park. That was fine. They left the neon on all night, he could spend the night here and resume the search for Arthur in the morning. @fazbear-security
It only took Gregory a second to figure out that this was not the security guard. Whoever - or whatever - this thing was, they werenât even human - they didnât have any legs, for one thing! The little boy relaxed from his tense position as the person - thing? - introduced himself, sounding way more nervous than something as scary as him should be.
ââŚ.Iâm Gregory.â The boy replied after a long moment of wary silence. âNice to meet you, tooâŚI guess.â He leaned forward to kneel on the floor, still keeping below the bottom edge of the gift shop window. The S.T.A.F.F. bots werenât smart enough to look around from their direct patrol path, but Chica was, and he didnât want to get cornered in here.
âWhat are you?â Gregory asked. âYouâre all glowy, and you donât have any legs!â
Lewis was taken aback by the sudden questioning, even though he shouldnât have been. For a moment he considered lying, but what could he say? The only other thing he could think of with a wispy tail like that was a genie and he certainly had no ability to grant wishes. Not even his own.
Maybe there was something but his brain couldnât come up with a single response besides the truth. âIâm sort of a ghost,â he admitted. âBut not the angry spooky kind. More the very lost kind.â He rubbed the back of his neck nervously. âPlease donât be scared?â
âHey! Iâm not scared!â Gregory huffed indignantly. âIâm eight - Iâm not scared of ghosts!â Not this one, at least. He was too polite to be scary, and heâd seen worse out on-âŚ..well. Heâd seen worse.
âWhatâs a ghost doing in a mall anyway?â Gregory frowned, and sat up a little higher on his knees. âDid you die in here? Do you haunt the gift shop??â
Huh, he certainly took it well. "I didn't die here, like I said before I'm lost. I've been trying to find an old friend of mine, but I don't know where he is so I'm just looking everywhere. And the mall here seemed like a more interesting place to spend he night than outside not able to see a foot in front of my face." There was no was he was letting anyone, least of all a kid know how he felt about the dark. "Why are you here after close?"
